    Nano Coating Feedback

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Hoping to get the board's updated and more recent feedback on the latest nano products. The whip is deserving of a little Spring love.

I've seen the Opticoat threads, and two years ago used a two-layered application of Cquartz which worked incredibly well and was much more effective than any hard or soft wax used in the past. I liked that the Cquartz was a 2 year type application vs. semi permanent like Opticoat.

Since then it looks like Cquartz was purchased by Carpro and has since released new products including Cquartz Finest: http://www.cqfinest.com/. IIRC it was previously another Euro company, not sure.

Soooo, what say you on the most recent nano coatings? Any suggestions or warnings? I understand that paint correction and preparation are critical, but would welcome any suggestions. Please and thanks.

So I have been doing a bunch of research on these products as well! I think I am gonna splurge and go with the Modesta coating. It does take more time then other coatings because it needs to be under IR lamps to cure but seems to be a pretty good product. On my car I was quoted $1,200. 2nd product which doesn't require IR lamps is Gtechniq Crystal Serum. Seems to be another good product and I was quoted $800 on that one. If anyone else has some personal feedback, I would love to hear it, as I have never done a coating like this on any of my cars.

Totally open minded, thanks agent. Just seeking something a little harder and longer lasting than a wax.

For nearly two years, a hose down was enough to keep the car shiny and she's needing an updated application of some new joujou.

^DJ, that's it, I had used Gtechniq previously and could not remember. This was the kit: http://usa.gtechniq.com/products/aut...id-coating-kit

I have been using Klasse High Gloss Sealant Glaze. Its an acrylic sealant. Its almost one year now that I applied it. And the protection is just great. Car shines like new, bird poop doesnt leave a mark even after a whole day in the sun- I was fuming to see bird poop on the hood, it had dried up good. Hosed it down at the car wash, and no mark was found. Gtechniq and other similar products are great but from my personal experience, the Klasse products have served me well and sufficed my needs (& expectations). One base layer of Klasse all in one and then next day one layer of klasse hgs. I went ahead and did 2 more layers of the hgs over the weekend after the 1st layer was done. It looks great almost one year down. But I plan on redoing it in a month or so.

See if there's any US dealers applying Siramik Diamas. Their is not a better coating avalible. I use c1 crystal and silo seal.can apply my self and last a good long time as I put the silo seal in every other wash and it's quick. Cheap too.

I've been sticking with the 22PLE products. I tried the VXPro, VX3, and VXPro2. All are amazingly easy to apply, super glossy, and long lasting. The VXPro2 is by far the most amazing car coating I've ever seen. That's what's on my S6 now. Even when caked with dried salt with the winter NE roads, a simple hose down washes most of the salt off and the coating still beads through the road grime! It's unbelievable. The car stays cleaner longer, and a simple rain will remove most of the accumulated dirt and dust from the surface. There have been times that I would come home from a road trip covered in salt and road grime, and I would just run the open hose on my car with the sheeting method and park the car. The next morning, I'd have to look for water spots to find them! In other words, if the grime does not dry on the car, and you can sheet the water off with a hose, the car remains clean. I can't say enough. I've seen the C Quartz in action as well, and it does not compare in my honest opinion. Not even close.

I have Ceramic Pro on mine. If I could do it again, I'd do 22PLE
Ceramic pro has a static effect and attracts dust and doesn't have the deepness of shine that other glass coats have
From what I've read/heard of 22PLE, it isn't static and has the deepest sheen.
Ceramic Pro is also permanent - not always a good thing [say, if you want to get your car wrapped]
22PLE is what The Man Cave recommended too and they do quality work

Both of my cars have the Gtechniq coating. Awesome results, awesome shine. It repels dirt and road crap and helps keep the cars cleaner between washes. It's been on my C30 for about 3 years, 1.5 for the Audi. Since the coatings were applied, my detail shop stopped dealing with Gtechniq, apparently issues with the distributor, and he switched to CeramicPro. He has used CeramicPro renewer on both twice. Even better shine. A must for black cars!

Whatever coating you choose, paint correction is critical. The coating will amplify any swirls or scratches.

I had The Man Cave do 22PLE on my 911 a couple of years ago. It was truly impressive how the water fell off of the car. Over time, it didn't feel like it was silky smooth, but the water would still bead really well. All in all, I was happy with it, but would have like a smoother finish.

My neighbor has been experimenting with a lot of different products on his 2008 BMW 335. He just applied the CQuarts UK to his car this past weekend. It looked REALLY good when it was done. If it holds up, I am going to have him do my S7.

I had CQuartz Finest applied 2 years ago and could not be happier. Still beads up like fresh wax and is very easy to keep ckean. Unless your car is brand new it usually takes a 2 step paint correction process prior to application. It took about 4 days but I also had the wheels taken off/coated and the interior cleaned/protected. I love the rest of the carpro products as well.

Thanks all, appreciate the feedback. I've just gone through two winter DIY hand jobs, clay, liquid and hard carnuba waxes. The depth, color, and slickness of the carnuba is second to none, but it just doesn't last and has nowhere near the easy-clean characteristics of these nanos.

I will be doing my cars with Cquartz Finest UK w/ Reloaded application this week. Both cars are brand new with no driving on them besides home from the dealer on back country roads. Do a two bucket wash and dry and chemical / wax removal / then apply the CQuartz UK to both cars along with application of the the Reloaded. I will take some pictures of the before and after.

This is exactly what my neighbor did to his 2008 BMW 335. He is a bit obsessed with his paint finish, and he was excited about this setup. I "supervised" his work for a portion of the time, and it looks to be a straight forward application. The Reloaded really makes the UK Finest shine. I caught up with him yesterday and he said he took it to a quick car wash and used the manual sprayer. The water sheeted off and he didn't need to dry it. I couldn't see any spots on the car. Im likely going to have him do this to my S7, but it will need a medium-grade paint correction first.

Id love to get your detailer's perspective of the Finest vs. the UK formulas. Ive heard conflicting data about which one is "the best".

    ^ This

My S6 should be arriving in a month. I am an amateur detailer, have corrected paint on a handful of cars. My cars are always very clean. That being said, I've never used any of these coating, only less permanent solutions like HD Posy for Chemical Guys Jet Seal. I'm considering getting a protective film and a coating applied by a detailer. This detailer is using Opti-coat Pro Plus. But I like what I've read about 22PLE stuff. I don't know if I should go forward with the Opti Coat cause it's spendy and I think I could do almost as good a job with regular Jet Seal applications OR 22PLE and good wash techniques... Thoughts?

I recently had mine coated with 22PLE, only couple of months in, but the car looks amazing, and the ease of washing and maintaining, it is the best pay off.

I'll talk to him today when I pick the car up. He actually has another business for detailing products with some of the "big shots" of Cquartz so I think he's pretty well versed with what they do/have and I can tell you he won't bs me.
