I JUST got the car in December.. Was waiting to make a left in to my neighborhood. No injuries. I filed a claim against her insurance. I still owe about 7k on the car. I don't know what I'm gonna do yet..

Sorry to hear about this, but woww thats a lot of damage for such a small accident. You probably have some kind frame damage on that quarter panel, She hit you pretty hard, its not easy to bend her rim like that.

Good luck with it, but if you want to keep the car make sure its done by a good body shop and fixed it right. Need some rear suspension work as well, make sure you pay attention to that.

The thing is... I have the extended warranty from CarMax.. I don't think her insurance (Nationwide) will cover it. But I just got notified that I can cancel their warranty.

even if the car has frame/sub frame damage, it can still be sold as a clean title, right?

Depends I don't know if by state or what but...I know once the car is damaged (frame/sub frame damage) is toalted. Then if u wanna buy it back from insurance it will be a salvage title. Then if u want it to be street legal you need an R title. So unless you have frame damage the insurance didint see you wont have a clean title.

Frame damage does not automatically total a vehicle. Usually it will though depending on the severity.

    Wow, that sucks...

Why wouldn't her insurance cover the damage? The dashcam shows you were legally stopped with your blinker on when she violated your rear end.

Based on guys posting info on rear-ended S4s (I know they are not exactly the same) and a quick look at the rough value of your car, there is a chance that the car is totaled. The rear end is basically designed to crumple, which is great for passengers, but leads to a ton of internal damage to the car.

Definitely file a diminished-value claim (if possible in your state) if the car is repaired.

not true at all, just replaced and entire frame under a truck, and we dont report to carfax, normally it the insurance company that does, i highly doubt this car will total

Like I said. Just playing around. This is no where near accurate, no way to write a good estimate without tearing the car down. Hope this helps you

Sorry about your car. why wouldn't her insurance cover it? You filed a police report, right? Nationwide is a reputable company, right? You have video proof that it was entirely her fault. What am I missing?

I think he's saying his extended warranty will not get refunded by Nationwide for the allotted amount of time remaining on it. They legally *have* to cover the auto accident, just not any extra things purchased such as warranties.

Sorry to hear this, accidents are never fun and that looks like a good hit.

I second what Pierre said... That looks like it'll be totaled out, to me. If it tweaked the quarter to the point that the trunk doesn't sit right, that is unibody damage.

Wow, that truck put a pretty good beating on the right rear end. Very sorry to hear as accidents are never fun to go through. Glad all involved parties are doing OK though. At this point, I would get an attorney involved. Not only for the financial aspect, but anyone who's ever gone through an accident knows it's a tremendous inconvenience. Believe me, the other party's insurance carrier is not your friend. You need someone who will go to bat for you to make sure YOU ARE TAKEN CARE OF.

That blooooowwws. I was cringing the whole time watching the dashcam video because this is like a nightmare to me. I'm always driving around like a twitchy addict expecting everyone on the road to not be paying attention or driving like a dumbass. Not that I think my car is God's gift, I just know what a pain it is to deal with insurance and other usually dishonest drivers when it comes to accidents. Man, all I can say is I empathize. Hope it gets taken care of as it should be.

which is why I am all about the dashcams too. I have a Blackvue 650 that has a front and rear camera. Front is typically good enough, but like I said, I don't trust other people out there on the road. Just more evidence that I am right and they are not. I got mine at blackboxmycar.com but there are a few dashcam specialty stores. They sell one at costco too, so it's safe to say they are becoming mainstream. I put a dashcam on my wife's car too, and she didn't even want one. You don't need/want one until you need/want one.

This is correct. I'm not worried about Nationwide covering the vehicle. I was worried that I wasted money on the extended warranty from CarMax.

All that being said, the car is towed up to the collision repair center, and I got a jeep compass as a rental

I'll keep everyone posted on which route I take!

    Maybe an S4?

Micro SD memory card. The one it came with was a cheap Chinese one and kept getting errors/making it shut off. Bought a good quality one and haven't had problems since.

The battery is suppose to be rechargeable but it stopped holding a charge a few months in. So now it turns on/off with the vehicle (Which works in my favor).

Per my knowledge extended warranty is refundable (3rd party warranty), I've done so on my last car and when I request for warranty cancellation or refund, it only took 2-3 weeks.

From the look of your car, that could be filed as totaled by your insurance.

I'm trying to understand how the accident happened. So you were waiting in the left lane waiting to turn left. Were they initially behind you then attempted to swerve to the right to change lanes?

I believe so. If you notice right before she hits me I think a Toyota 4 runner made a quick lane change to the left. I think he was right behind me before I stopped. She probably wasn't paying attention then had a split to try to avoid hitting me.

I have one of these to sell, front-facing camera only though. Blackview 500, with Power Magic Pro (turns off the camera when the car is off, once the battery hits a certain voltage) and a 16GB memory card. PM me if you're interested. I've just been too lazy to get it out of storage and actually list it in the classifieds. You're actually local, too, so no shipping! Lol.

Got a 2016 Jeep Compass as a rental, it sucks.

Spoke with the collision center, initial estimate on damages is $7000 with all brand new OEM parts. They still need to check the frame.

Spoke with the collision center, initial estimate on damages is $7000 with all brand new OEM parts. They still need to check the frame.
First, I am sorry to read this, but glad that there were no injuries.

That is an initial estimate, and can all but guarantee you that the price will only go up even if no frame damage is present; however, the absence of frame damage is highly unlikely.

My advice to you: review and consider all potential options and scenarios with your insurance carrier.
