    Rear Caliper Upgrade

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So I have been looking around and it seems that the S6/S7 and even RS7 have a rear caliper that looks anemic compared to the front. Has anyone swapped out the rear caliper? I understand that it may not provide a huge improvement in performance, but aesthetically the factory rear caliper needs help.

Are the factory calipers made by Brembo?

80% of your braking is done by the front unless you drive mostly in reverse. No point to upgrade since benefits are slim to none.

I am getting car wrapped next week and guy at shop said for $500.00 they can powder coat all 4 whatever color I want. If only for aesthetics, that may be a good route for you.

Getting more aggressive brake pads is all you need if you want better stopping along with stickier tires.

EPB is what makes it difficult to swap the rear caliper to something like a fixed caliper. I don't think there are any options compatible with the Audi factory EPB.

That's what I thought.. Didn't think they did them on S6s though so a little surprised.

You. Can get pretty much anything as an option in Europe. Americans get a very small subset.

The car I posted the picture of is not my car. It was a stock photo I grabbed to show the calipers.
I'm looking for a CPO S6 but need to sell my Mercedes first. I currently own a Mercedes S65 AMG car and it has Brembo 6 piston fixed calipers on front a 4 piston fixed calipers on the rear. The Merc is about 400 pounds heavier.
I understand the engineering reason behind the style of caliper, I was just looking for a solution to make the rear brakes look better.

Stasis makes a rotor upgrade that includes a bracket to move the caliper...

What are these covers people are talking about. Do they make them for the rear?

Here's a couple of shots. They're made for the rear calipers and unless you have a RS7, you have to drill a couple holes.

I forgot who did it but he made a paper template for drilling.

Drilling is safe. I've been drilling stuff for years without an injury.

What's the wall thickness on the caliper. How deep does the hole have to be and what size.

It looks and feels like 3/4 inch

From the picture, it looks like the stud is 5/16" and the depth would be around 3/8"-1/2"

I didn't buy or install those covers. I saved pictures from the ECS site and a DIY thread because I am planning on making my own.

I prefer to drill and tap smaller holes and use 10-32 studs with acorn nuts holding the covers on.
