I'm wondering if anyone has any products of theirs other than their exhaust systems (I already want to get their exhaust) as I've browsed their site and had a few red flags raised. This namely the K04 turbo they have listed as $266, that seems like cheap Chinese knock off to me. Also wondering about the quality of their FMIC kits. Any information would be appreciated, I'm just asking because if they have a cheap knock off turbo, it leaves me wary of the rest of their supplies.

Link us the kit. The CX core works fairly well for the B5 S4 guys, but those are beefy.

you should be fine with the exhaust and intercooler, there are no moving parts. the turbo, well, can be hit and miss. what some ppl do is buy the cx ko4 and rebuild it with upgraded parts. costs like $50.

I lol hard when ppl say cuz its from china, its crap. where do you think the whole world gets all their stuff from? china, taiwan, india, malaysia etc.? from a business point of view, its wayyyy cheaper to pay 6yr old Ming and 12yr old Haan .45 cents an hour in a child labor sweat shop as opposed to paying joe ed and bobby $8hr here in the usa. its called outsourcing, been around for a longgg time. and it really depends on what warehouse made these things, its all about quality control.

I have their exhaust, works great, no issues with mine at all and its 2 years old. I do know that Motor Trend did a turbo LS build on one of their youtube channels and they used a CXRacing kit and they loved the turbo. My buddy did the same thing with his Malibu and he hasnt had any issues with the turbo and the car makes 500whp. There is someone on here that has their ko4 I think and I think its worked out will for him so far. I wouldn't trust their smaller parts like BOV, DV's, things like that.

I'm kind of tempted to get the K04, I know the saying, you get what you pay for, but if people have used it without problem, it all comes down to am I going to be the 0.002% (number via my ass) that has it blow and needs to put all the money saved into new valves etc you know.
I'm just wondering what difference i'd get in performance from that one, because I intend to do cat delete turbo back exhaust (perfect time to swap a turbo lol) and they have big turbos as well for cheap.

    http://www.cxracing.com/mm5/merchant...gory_Code=TOCH

so you think it would be safe to assume that it would be worth it to get those plus exhaust from them ($1000 plus shipping to canada).

Ok let me rephrase it, it's cheap Chinese crap vs the expensive Chinese stuff... I have the exhaust and it's umm subpar but for 300 it's ok, the fmic was dogshit core compared to treadstone or other ones I've ran. I never installed the cx core to be honest had the treadstone already. My exhausts tips came dinged to shit, and like I posted earlier the downpipe flange to cat/test pipe tapers to 2.5 (item is listed as 3inch) and it's not a bolt on flange as it doesn't match up to oem. Also the mufflers look very very cheap, the kid that welded it looks like he did a decent job at least.

^yea. the exhaust is okay, but needs to have the muffler(s) replaced for a quality sound.
    &
I never held a cx intercooler core in my hands, but I would imagine its lighter than a feather with just the minimal amount of cooling fins required to legally be called an intercooler lol

but obviously im wrong, many ppl run them with no problems.

just google it OP, and come to your own decision because this topic will usually be 50/50

The flange from cat to DP is fine. it matched right up to my cat, which is 2.5 in from the factory. they can put a 3in DP fland to match a 2.5in cat flange.... and my exhaust came packaged perfectly with no issue. I had one gasket i had to "adjust" but thats it.

You want pics??? Its a 3bolt in the wrong pattern as stock cat and my 034 test pipe. I ordered my exhaust about a year ago. So urs is a older one not sure why they changed it to a not fitting flange.

How do you know they changed it? How do you know you got sent the right downpipe? How do you know it isn't a manufactures defect? Did you contact the company about it?

I've read a lot of people find the fitment to be fine, while there are a few who find it doesn't fit. Some of those cases were due to being sent the wrong downpipe. Others, possibly like you, say they contacted the manufacturer to ensure they were sent the right parts and even then it didn't fit. So its possible they just produced a bad batch or something, because like you said why would they change it to a not fitting flange.

Now if they did produce a bad batch and are not owning up to it that sucks and is pretty lame.

I don't just assuming since his fits but mine doesn't. I contacted them when I got it and was told it was correct. Don't care really as I'm swapping all flanges to vband. This exhaust isn't a priority for me as I run a borla until I have all bt stuff and other motor ready to swap in. No point in 3inch for a k03 anyways. The piping is decent it's more the flanges and muffler/ugly tips that I don't like with this system.

If they did make a bad batch that comes back to the lack of quailty control. I'm not bashing them just stating what my experience was with what I ordered.

Yea... And it's been on a borla and xs power downpipe before. No issues there. I'll try stock cat to cx in like 20mins

The shop I worked for sourced alot of their turbos and parts from CXRacing. I've only heard of one failing, and we used alot of them. Obviously a turbo from Garrett or BorgWarner is going to be better but their turbos are decent for the money you pay. My only bad experience from them was my exhaust manifold I got. It's cast, works, is port matched and larger diameter but it was a pain for fitment. I had to use some bolts and some studs to get it to fit. I've also heard their tubular manifold are junk.

For intercoolers, piping, vacuum hoses and what not, I would choose SiliconIntakes / FrozenBoost over them though.

Since we are talking about it, this intercooler kit claims that the only trimming needed is the fog light cutouts in the bumper. Does that mean this bolts up without trimming the crash beam? If anyone has used this exact kit and has pictures, that would be choice.

I have this exact kit. It definitely requires trimming of the crash beam and bumper, and bumper valence. I was able to fit mine with the stock facelift fog lights fully intact.

Excellent information, thanks. You pretty happy with that kit? The biggest I'll go in the future is 2871R, so I don't need anything crazy and huge.

It's okay, but I've modified the piping to fit better.
I'm part of the Treadstone TR18T group buy that's underway, so I can ensure that my FMIC won't be limiting power output on my current setup (F21, E85, rods, etc.).

For a 2871R I'd definitely go for something better, like the TR18T (we're looking at $195 + shipping currently).

    x2

anything more than a franken turbo I would go with a better core FMIC. quality of the core is just as important as the size.

exhaust I cant speak for cxracing, I have a SSAC and its good for the money but will not support anything over a 2871 its about 2.5''. it sounds good out of the box and other than the flex pipe going on mine after 3 years ish everything else holing up just fine.
