Yep, not even professional race car drivers turn off stability control on public roads with RWD, but I guess some of these geniuses have to learn it the hard way. Just like this guy, also after a cars and coffee. This is pretty much why I went to AWD performance cars. Either you have to accept that stability control will constantly ruin the fun, or you turn it off, but then one wrong move and you end up like this. Not with Quattro and the Sport Differential.

I saw you mention it in another thread, but it really is crazy how much better the 4.2TT sounded when compared to the current 4L. Sure the 4.0 sounds mean with its barks and pops, but there is very little tone to it; by that I mean you don't really get that higher pitched sound as the RPMs climb. And, it sounds like it's "fluttering" the whole way up. Not sure if that's a good descriptor but it's the only word I can think of to describe it.

Thats why I hate these rear wheel powerful cars, they are only good when you go on the track or if you are drift fanatic. Friend of mine had Bmw M4, most of the time Esp blinks and you loose lot of power, only in very warm, dry, sunny and ideal road conditions its fun.

Turbo's have a habit of taking the base out of an exhaust note.
Personally I liked the V10 from the C6 S6, best sound for a 4 door car barring the AM Rapide.

Yep, sounds way too raspy and tinny for my tastes. It really does sound a lot like a fart can rice burner. Not much out there sounds better than an open downpipe RS6 4.2TT. That thing used to sound totally badass, like a twin turbo Chevy small block. Sadly, a lot of the guys on this forum are influenced in certain ways so they are brainwashed. For example, Audi is charging thousands for a "sport exhaust" option so therefore it MUST sound so sick, so much better than the stock exhaust! Or even better Akrapovic is selling a catback for $8K so that must be the best possibly sounding exhaust out there! It's all contagious too as they all then post about it and psych eachother out, sort of brain washing all the others into believing the same thing over and over again. People are influenced psychologically by how much something costs, just like how they're influenced by others (poor pressure, mob mentality etc). That's my opinion of why so many people can think something that sounds so shitty actually sounds really good. Then when you hear a 4.0TT with open downpipes that actually doesn't sound too bad people quickly dismiss it as not sounding good solely because that option costs $0 instead of the $8K for an Akra, so it can't possibly sound good because it's free!

It's called style/fashion, whatever you want to call it. People have money to spend on things they like so they do that.

While I agree that it's certainly safer, Quattro with the sport differential still can't defy the laws of physics. In the winter a lot of people think they're invincible just because they're driving an AWD or 4WD vehicle leading to a lot of crashes in the snow.

I agree, this should go without saying. At the end of the day it's still just the tires between the car and the road. AWD doesn't help stop or steer the car, although the sport differential does help with stabilizing and steering. I was getting at the ability of AWD to put the power to the road and to full use w/o bending the car out of shape. Obviously all within the limits of the current road conditions.

I don't think he was trying to chase down the RS7, its just in the mustang gene to do burn outs while turning out of parking lot in cars and coffee, as if it is in their owners' manual: "must do a burn out when exiting car meets". And they pretty much all end up sliding all over the place. Some got lucky and the rest hit something, hence, the youtube vids.

I agree, i miss that car every day! If i could just duplicate that on my 3.0T, i'd be very happy. Someone please create an aftermarket exhaust with zero drone for our cars!
Until then, i'll have to stick with stock, and maybe just do a quad tip conversion since i already have the S7 valance sitting in my garage.

What you seem to be missing is that I'm simply voicing my opinion that these cars sound like crap with certain exhaust systems compared to previous twin turbo Audi models. I could care less if people want to play the part of suckers and pay $8K for some pipes from Akrapovic. I'm not telling anyone not to buy them. It's a free country. Why would I even care? The sport exhaust option for the 2016 S6 was included in the "sport package" that also gives you the sport diff. Not really "thousands" on an exhaust. I was a little bit bummed when I saw they were doing this as it was an extra $750 or something from years past to get the sport diff. Especially when I was interested in buying an aftermarket exhaust and didn't want to spend any extra on the audi sport version. Turns out I'm pretty okay with the sound of it so it all worked out.

I do agree with you about the psychological part of many mods in general. I for one don't feel the 034 tranny mount does anything. Lots of people feel differently though. I do enjoy mob mentality though, gotta say my eyes are wide at the words "Group buy." Everyone is doing it!

This is why even with the training I have had I wont fully turn off the traction on my AMG. It has a very very thin line between drifting and smashing into object without warning. I leave it in Sport traction mode which gives it some slip but not enough to all of a sudden lose it. Ill turn the traction all the way off when in a large empty parking lot to play but not on public roads.

As for the sound I think that the RS7 is lacking in sound but makes it up in power and practicality.

I don't think the 4.oTT sounds anything like a 'fart can rice burner'. But I do agree others sound better. I liked my old car's custom 3" exhaust on the SC'ed 4.2L the best to date.

I know sound is subjective to each persons liking but the AWE Touring exhausts sounds awesome on the 4.0TT. No drone and has a deep wail when you open it up.
