Hi! I've been having oil leaks which I have now found the issue for. The whole bottom of my car is oily and I would like to wash it. Can i get a pressure washer and just pressure wash the whole bottom of the car? I also would like to wash my engine and need some advice. I've read a lot of different stories online so can someone please give me advice. Thanks

Ive washed my engine with a pressure washer with no problems. Might have gotten lucky with the electrics

I prefer simple green spray with delicate stuff but pressure wash probably isn't a bad idea for the underside

I pop the hood, wrap grocery bags over everything I don't want water in/on spray on full strength degreaser, then use just a garden hose to rinse, comes spotless, use a 1" paintbrush to break up and loosen where it's worst and it will shine, make sure you put a bag over the electrical connections going through firewall etc and alternator. Mine fell off last time and o had two days without a speedometer till fully dried out

You can, but I wouldn't. I use WD-40 engine degreaser, you just spray it on, scrub the bad spots, then gently wash it off or use a towel. IMO worth an extra few minutes to make sure you don't screw up something

When i pressure washed i tried to use the widest spray nozel low pressure and avoid wires to not break them. I then air dried everything with an air compressor and blow gun to remove water from key electrical areas

I've heard pressure washing can be dangerous for seals n such...

I'd go engine degreaser all around then a standard hose sprayer.

It should be fine like all the people online yell about, engines are waterproof'd (for the most part) from the factory.......17 years ago. Vacuum lines dry rot, seals start to let shit in, you might even have a cracked pcv, in which case high pressure water is not a good idea which most people don't seem to understand

So far, I never sprayed water on it. I just use spray cleaning bottles. I live in Pittsburgh, and the sheetz car wash has bottom sprayers that cleans the whole under the car, from front to back. Pretty sleek.

What people also don't realize is that engine bay "water proofing" is designed for rain spray, etc.....not submerging or hitting an electrical cover with 1500 PSI water. It's like complaining that your "water-tight" windows on your house didn't standup to the Class 5 hurricane. LMAO
