    Oil additives?

After calling AOA and my local audi dealership I was told that nothing really can be done to help rebuild my motor due to having 110k miles . I'm slightly pissed off because I bought the car from a certified audi dealership with 95k miles obviously not knowing of an oil consumption issue (FYI burns 1 quart per 1500-2000 depending on driving). So im assuming they knowingly sold this oil burner to me. I talked to a good friend who has been in the automotive industry for 50 years and he knows of the issue. He stated that the main reason these cars start to burn oil is because of the long drain intervals of 10k miles and told me that I couldnt do much but to instead change oil every 3k not every 5k like I have been doing. Now the question I made this post for, Any of you guys know of some additives that would be safe to add to my car? Should I try 5w30 instead of 5w40? and what other input would you suggest? ALL help is appreciated from you fellow Audi owners, thank you

Also I have been using Audi recommended Motul Specific 5w40 and Liqui Moly 5w40

And one last question, would it be stupid to go APR stage 1 considering I already have a oil problem?

    Oil additives?

This is a fuel additive my local Audi dealership said would be good for the cleaning the engine. I have 53k miles right now and do an oil change every 5k and add this to the gas tank. Maybe a little excessive now but I think it'll be better further down the line.

I did the same for my b7 that still ran perfect on the original motor when I sold it at 198k

Before you "blame" the long drain intervals, run the service history on your car. There was an oil burning issue with the 2009-2012 models. First phase of the fix was a new PCV and software update. Second phase was new rings. This is well documented in the 3rd sticky in this forum. Cars have been known to burn up to 1qt per 500 miles. I know that after I had the fix, I have not had to add oil between 10k changes in 4 years now.

Changing the oil every 3,000 miles is ridiculous. Longer intervals are not the root cause of consumption.

My buddies 2010 A4 just got redone due to oil consumption with 96k on the clock and out of warranty. Try another dealer.

I love the ceratec, I also use

You may also want to use the Liqui Moly Ventil Sauber for rings etc.....

You need to run 0w40 instead.

1qt per 1500-2000 miles sounds like typical VAG oil consumption. You don't need to change oil every 3k miles. Just stick with every 5-7k mile oil changes. Next oil change use a heavier oil like a 15w40

I thank you all for the help and answers but in terms of having it rebuilt at 110k I think its nearly impossible. Talked to two dealers and AoA and each time they said I would've had to be in the 80k range which means im over 30k miles over that. Does anyone know if these worn rings will effect compression? I also talked with the audi service department and they recommended not to use any kind of oil additives but instead just add oil.

Have you tried switching oil brands? The dealers use Castrol because they're paid to, but I've had the best luck with Motul 5w-30.

I drive an 09, put a quart in every 2500 miles and change at 5K. I get the least amount of consumption with Motul. I've never had the oil consumption problem many have stated, but then again, I broke the engine in properly from day 1 and have been the only owner.
