For the second time in 4 months my CVT went down, 1st time was the TCM, well since my car is in excellent condition I paid the Audi Stealership $2200 after argument to fix it. 4 months later (March) PRND light up again, thinknin it was a failed TCM again I had it towed to Audi and after 2 weeks they finally tell me its the Clutch disc fail and they want $5k. Big nope on that.
Took a little bit but I tracked down a 2003 A4 FWD 1.8t 5spd.
Removal of the CVT was somewhat of a PITA, but I did it solo. Fortunately I had everything I needed from the donor car, only needed time to do. As of last night:
R&R center console, 5spd shifter installed, add RNS-E for a nice touch
New Coolant Flange installed (Slow leaking)
New Rear Main Seal
New Valeo SMFW Kit installed
5spd FPS Trans installed
Stock Axels installed
Starter put back in
Pedals installed and new USP Clutch line installed(what a time saver)
Then after a bit of bad info, found that I had the wrong Trans Crossmember and I let one go with the donor carshell I sold, fortunately the guy was pretty cool today and he's pulling it off and sending to me.
So all I have left it the Subframe bolts, minor wiring(Clutch switches engage/disengage, reverse lights and brake switch)
Bleeding, refill fluids, charge battery(it died)
