    DIY for Xenon bulb replacement

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Anyone have any experience swapping out the Xenon bulbs on a Q5?

Tried searching and didn't find anything.

Just want to know if it's straight forward of if things need to get removed to access the back of the housing.

    Thanks in advance.

Its easy. There is a panel on the back of the light. Once open there is a ring that must be turned to unlock, then the bulb comes out.

    Check out step 3.

    doom,

thanks for the response. I guess in a nutshell it's easiest to remove the headlight assembly for bulb replacement. I really didn't want to pull out the airbox etc.

    Thanks for the reply.

I don't think you need to. The how to is for replacing the US spec headlights with the eu spec. I think you can access the hatch while the lights are in.

I changed mine out a few weeks ago, the driver side is easy. Passenger side you will have to move the airbox a little so you can reach a bolt holding the headlight. You have to move the headlights a little forward so the cover on the back can be taken out. At least that's how mine was.

Also the airbox is super easy to pull out. only 2 screws for the funnel part. The actual box is just set in some rubber mounts. Perfect time to port some holes in and rip out the snow guard!!

Agree - just need to slide the lights forward, no need to take out. These are some of easiest HID's I've ever changed. You will need to take airbox out but that's an easy job once you do it. Clean hands and no touch bulb.
