    Thumbs up DanishA3Quattro's 2,0TFSI S-tronic 2010

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Hi,

Although i'm new to The Audi community, i have a history of 7 years of maxing out the potential of a MK5 Golf GTI, so i'm a bit familiar with the platform as a whole.
After the Golf ended it's days last year the search went out for it's replacement. As i ended up with a daily close to 500bhp and in a very track capable weapon i looked at the shortcommings that was with the old car, so the result was an Audi A3 2,0TFSI (EA888) S-tronic and with Quattro. The obvious choice was an S3, only a couple of things was in the way of that; I wanted the new engine as to not just replicate what i had done with the golf along with the insane taxsystem on cars resulting in a similar S3 to the car i found costing 400.000Dkr where as the A3 option ended up in 240.000DKr for a similar specced car.
These A3's with the things i wanted are rare as rocking horse poo as noone are sold from new in Dnemark so i had to go south of the border to Germany, where you can find them, but they are almost as rare as in Denmark as most customers chose the S3 instead.
After 6 month of search i found one in a unique color and in the Exclusive line which matched my needs

    Here it is:

I haven't seen any A3 with that color so please if anyone has one please let me know

As i disliked the wheels that it came with, i soon fitted my old Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2 8x18" ET45 with Yokohama winter tyres.

As soon as i had bought the car i got hold of a K04 for the old EA113 TFSI engine which REVO had converted to fit the EA888 TSI/TFSI engine and sent it off to Theturboengineers for it to be made to TTE420 spec. Along with the turbo a DO88 Intercooler and a BCS Powervalve 3" TBE system was ordered to free up the extra power of the TTE 420 turbo.

Here are some shots of the parts before fitment

    After fitment

Also a set of REVO 8,5x19" ET45 silver wheels went on with Michelin Pilot Super Sport 235/35-19" fitted.
I know it needs to be lowered and a set of Bilstein B16 PSS10 coilovers is on the shelf for it.
I also have a set of REVO/Alcon 4 pot BBK for is as a set of rear brakes with 335mm discs are ordered.

Please let me know your inputs and comments, thx for looking

I'm from North Zealand, near Copenhagen. And the scenary isn't half as nice as the ones on your pictures, but we have the sea, nice forests and the capitol closeby.
Lots of plans with the car. I just have to get my head around that now i have the grip i want compared to my previously build where the hunt for grip was a big issue.

Ah i know the area, only made it over to Copenhagen once. Lived in Daugaard just outside of Vejle for a year back in 02/03 when I was 17, funny my host parents actually had a 2 door 8L at that time.. Denmark has some beautiful roads and scenery don't sell yourself short ;)

Det bliver en langt tid sidlen jeg var i Danmark, men jeg haaber til at kommer tilbage snart. (hope Im not to rusty)

Yeah the awd helps with that for sure!! Looking forward to seeing the progress.

Tak for det! Jeg savner Danmark, det er et smukt land.

I would be lying if I said I didn't use it once or twice for more complex stuff that I have forgotten over the past decade.

As i'm currently logging the car to see timing, fueling and boost, i've reached performance stage 2 on the REVO stage 3 software, and it gave me a time of 3,54sec 0-100km/h and a quatermile time on normal tarmac of 11,8sec. Both numbers was with the apple app "pocket dyno". Hopefully i'll have a dyno graph within 2 weeks for you guys to see :)

Not much has happened other than i have gathered parts to fit 370mm 4 pot REVO brakes in the front and 335mm 1 pot ventilated rear brakes. Also a Bilstein B16 PSS10 is on it's way, or spare parts for it is more precise.
Today i had massive missfires, so of to the shop as i know the coilpacks tend to go bad. I turned out to be spark plug in cylinder 3 had gone lose and the gasses from the cylinder had pushed the coilpack up resulting in the missfires. The car has now NGK BKR8EIX iridium plugs and Okada plasma coilpacks fitted. Runs like a charm again :)

I have also noticed that the EA888 engine i have, with camchain reaches 125 degrees celsius with out being pushed compared to the app. 93 degrees celsius of the older EA113 cambelt driven engine in my old golf 5 GTI pushing 489bhp, in my opinion a high normal temp.

Haven't checked in lately!! Well done!!

My steering wheel was off an S5, used the same airbag so made life a lot easier and cheaper. But I still need to replace the S5 badge haha.

No they are from the factory, it's an exclusive model, meaning the 1 buyer has specified precisely what parts he wanted in the car

Well, the project took a minor detour due to me having a "small" clash with a 70kg deer. Luckily both my 10yo son and i was unharmed, but it allowed me to order a copy RS3 front which allows me to keep the fog lamps now that they are there already.
Also i have ordered a set of GFK 30mm wider front fenders so i can fit the alloy hubs and camberadjustable alloy lower control arms from the Audi TT mk2 which gives 25mm wider track in each side.

Here are shots of the damage done by the deer

And a picture of the front i have bought

Hopefully early next year it will be finished.

Merry x-mas everyone here from Denmark

Damn that sucks... I passed a few deers in the ditch going to my dad's... was on high alert just waiting for one to hop out. I was only doing about 60km/h though and may have had the thought about an S3 front end...

But so glad you guys are safe and you get some upgrades in the progress.

Thx for the replies guys :) i appreciate it.

Here are pictures of the front i have bought, not a straight ripoff of the RS3, but similar. I found a couple of pictures of it fitted to another car.

And the fenders arrived today, not the best product as the Kerscher ones i had on my mk 5 golf gti was a much better quality, but they have to make due for now.

Since the car is at it, i bought this as well, i like the look of the punctured leather more than the one i have now. Also it has contrast stitching so it matches the armrests on the doorcards

I feel i need to explain the need for the 30mm wider front fenders. On my Golf mk 5 GTI i fitted TT mk 2 front hubs and lower control arms. The reason for this is they are made of alloy, They allow for adjustment of camber on the lower control arms and they add 25mm wider track to each side of the car. The result is a much better steering car and a better feel with the front end due to the lower unsprung weight.
Here's a tech view on what it does:

Here is a comparison of steel hubs, Cupra/passat alloy hubs and the TT mk 2 alloy hubs

    And the control arms:

So i'm pretty exited to see what difference it will do on a 4wd car

Looks like a good progress DanishA3quattro I sure like the S3 steering wheel. I think if I had a good opportunity to buy I would, despite the fact I don't have white stitching anywhere else

The car is now back from the paintshop, still missing is a new dash and seatbelts.
The front bumper was above average in fitment, the fenders below average in fitment. Until i get the TT mk 2 front alloy hubs fitted the front wheels are almost 40mm to far in on the car. Also the car needs coilovers to get the right height.

A couple of surprises showed up when the car returned from the shop that had put on fenders, bumper and hood and painted it. My own mechanic was to replade the dash and seatbelts and airbag module. Firstly the airbag module has to be replaced after an incident, unfortunately it has to be coded online at Audi. Before we can do that, we found that 2 plugs had cracked at the crash, the one for the throttle body and for the temp. sensor in the intake manifold. In trying to help the first shop had glued the parts together so now thecar needs new wiring in the engine bay along with a new sensor and throttle body before it can get to Audi for coding.
Still the dash and seatbelts are fitted and it starts to look like my car again

Oh, and the rails are fitted

It has been lowered 1 row, but yes i agree. the workshop had it placed to high. The licenseplate is also to low, but i'll leave it there as it is just opposite the crash bar. I also think the plain black background of the rings should be removed, showing the grille behind :)

The car has just transported me and my son to and back from Austria without a glitch. Lots of extra power for overtaking on the autobahn when needed. In total it drove more than 2300km. Also i got to test my new mobilphone holder. Great piece of kit from Canada.

The angling of the phone was optional, but i prefer it like that

Not much has happened, just had needle sweep activated, the cluster had to come apart and the EPROM unlocked as it's the facelifted version
