    Automatic to manual???

    So I have a b6 a4 1.8T manual car engine is shot to shit.I have a awm engine that came out of a automatic Passat b5.5. I have read different things some says automatic could be converted to manual by pressing in the pilot bearing other says not possible.Anyone know for sure???

    AFAIK the autos have a different crankshaft than the manuals. The CVT is an exception. I believe I've read there's a way to make it work but it requires modification to the crankshaft.

    It is relatively simple. You use a slide hammer to pull a bushing out of the end of the crank.

    Get a 2.8 pilot bearing. Cut the closed end of it off and install the bearing with the cut end out. Only install it about half way.

    That is it.
