Lately, as my PCV VTA has been spewing more and more oil and blowby into the air in the form of smoke, I decided that I needed to stop driving my car.
People are giving me dirty looks, my exhaust leaks are getting worse, my car is getting obnoxiously loud, and I have the mindset of, "fuck it, the engine is coming out soon anyway, so I'll fix it then".
Anyway, I've decided that to save myself from the poisoning that has been occurring every time I drive my car from my precat exhaust leaks, that I going to stop driving it.
Back in mid February, I decided to do a compression test because the car has been seeming to have less and less power before the turbo spools.
Wouldn't you know that my compression numbers are all well below the rebuild spec of 101 PSI dry. Squirting AT fluid into the combustion chamber after each test confirmed that my compression numbers are likely due to worn piston rings.
I decided that I'm going to use my spare block that I've been sitting on for over two years to finally go through with my stroker engine build.
I'm planning on a 92.8mm AEG crankshaft with 83mm 8.7:1 compression ratio (yes, lol) supertech pistons.
Rods were my first purchase, they have a confirmed wrist-pin size of 20mm (tested with an AEB wrist-pin from my spare block).
I'm both trying to get this project off the ground as soon as possible, and trying to save money wherever possible and still have a strong bottom end build.
Something might happen later with the top end and the turbo, but for this build I'm going to be sticking with the K04 setup and the ATW head I currently am using.
Today the car parked in it's final resting place for the next few months. Plates will be turned into the DMV on Saturday.
