How the hell do I remove my Brake fluid Resivoir "strainer"

the filter / strainer under the cap.

On my other Audi's a quick twist and pull up would work. I can not seem to get this one out.


Can anyone help me out here?


I am getting brake fluid warnings when turning right, they turn off when I turn left.

I want to inspect the level sensor "float" mechanism inside, however, I must remove the filter / strainer to do so.

it clips in...you'll have to stick a pocket screwdriver in and pry a little and pull.

once its out clean it REAL GOOD with brake cleaner as the net gunks up.

Yup. It's hard to get out but possible. I used a pair of needle nose pliers and pulled it out. Didn't come out smoothly though.

yeah...mine deformed but while i had it out i bent it slowly to the correct shape. try not to bend it too much as the plastic could split if bent too much.
