    Faster Steering Racks

I was reading through some vwvortex pages for Jettas being able to mod their steering racks, along with many types of cars which have the ability to bolt in a rack from another model for faster/more accurate steering.

Which got me thinking, are there any other Audi racks that could bolt into our cars that would increase steering response or have faster ratios?

Dont know about the b5 but i know guys throw on rs6 c5 steering racks onto their c5's. Apparently quicker response, more sporty or snappy feeling. Maybe the rs4 rack is different?

That's the type of thing I was thinking, if there was another rack used on these cars or on other Audi models that would bolt up with little to no modification that would give better feel and response. Especially knowing Audi being fairly good about keeping mounting points and whatnot the same across many different parts and models i.e. a 2.7t bolting into a B6/7 etc.

Maybe the B6/B7 racks might fit?

Ideally, I would prefer electronic steering. We could get rid of the annoying pump and all the hoses.
But I'm sure not everyone agrees with having electronic steering.

no one will ever agree with that, who wants to drive a car that is numb. our a3 had that, worse thing ever, my c4 has cervotronic assist and even that is a stretch...

The b3 and b4 guys swap in rs2
racks or those rare 034 ones. Supposedly
2-2.5 turns to full lock. C5's can swap
in the rs6 rack. For the b5 I think unless
the rs4 rack is a shorter ratio the you're
    SOL.

Just my 2 cents but if you want a quicker turning car you could always install a smaller diameter steering wheel. I bet its a pain in the b5 s4's but it sounds easier then replacing the steering rack. One or two inches smaller in the wheel will definitely be a lot when it comes to turning.
