    Replacement Perforated Shift Knob

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So I took a chance on a $12 AliExpress perforated shift knob to replace my tired out original and was of course filled with deep and utter sadness after I installed it. It weighs nothing, feels like crap, and the plastic on the top protrudes uncomfortably from the knob. Surprise, surprise... Well, I thought I'd give it a shot!

So I wanted to see if anyone else had given these sellers on eBay a shot (mainly if they're actual OEM pieces or not). The ones I found are a boot/knob combo for the 8L A3/S3. I'm assuming that even if the boot doesn't fit, I can pull the knob off and swap it onto mine.

    Anyways, here be the links:

    $48.99 from Latvia

    $63.00 from Latvia

    $85 from Germany

And a photo compare of my old knob (de-shiny'd with a magic eraser) next the the absolutely gorgeous piece of AliJunk.

Update: See post #11 for pics Went with the knob from Latvia and am happy with the results.

Black Forest industries has some really nice knobs but they're a little pricy. Definitely quality though

They've got $100 option that looks great. They now have the 5-speed shift patterns everyone was asking for too.

I just ordered some extended lug bolts from them, should be coming today. Shift knob might be next.

I too have been eyeballing those Ebay shift knobs/boots. Although, I have my eye on one with a wood knob. Just havent pulled the trigger. My current shift knob is all sorts of worn (only visible from passenger seat)

I'm really only a fan of the OEM perforated knob. The JHM ones look well manufactured.. they're just not the look I'm going for. I found another place that sells the entire knob/boot combo for about $145 shipped.

That cheap knob from Latvia though... looks nice and tempting if it really is OEM. I'm going to shoot them an email and see what I can get out of 'em.

I ended up ordering the knob from Latvia and it arrived today. I swapped it over from the A3 boot to my existing one and threw it in and I'm happy for under $50. The A3 knob weighs just a tad less than my original perforated knob but it feels fine once installed.
