    Hi,

My car won't start - starter turns but the engine does not crank over - the computer says it's the engine speed sensor. I have the sensor but cannot figure out where it goes. Any help would be greatly appreciated. If you have pictures please send as well.

    Thanks

Thank you for getting back to me. I still can't find it. Do you have a picture. From what I have read you need you access it from under the car? I found the same sensor but it's at the top part of the engine by to the left of the coolant tank? See pic. I assume this is not it? All help is greatly appreciated http://www.platinumassets.com/data/22.JPG

Hah, came across this post and I'm literally doing this sensor on my B7 RS4 as we speak. This thing was a pain to find, it's right where the diagram shows but every diagram or picture I've seen of this thing does not show the cup shaped aluminum shield covering it.

This is what the shield looks like off the car. The bolts are a pain to get to as well because the clearance doesn't really allow a socket and ratchet, I ended up using a 4mm allen to break it loose and it was perfect. I also had to bend the shield down a bit to get at the bolt for the sensor.

Hopefully yours doesn't look like mine does
