Overall I like it! Definitely considering this as my next car in a year or two. I'm probably nitpicking, but I really hope they switched the key fob design (probably not).

Love the lower air intake ducts. Absolutely hate the lights. Maybe it will grow on me once I start seeing them in the wild.

My thoughts exactly. That little 'cut' in the lights bothers the hell out of me for some reason.

Very subtle changes and could be a grower need to see one in the flesh - also not a fan of the abrubt corner at the headlight and bumper.

The good bits like virtual cockpit and matrix lights are optional extras too!

    Cool

Dunno if you guys caught it. They say S3 gets an added 10hp!!!

8V A3/S3's have been out since the 2013 model year in Europe right?

Virtual cockpit? More electrical gremlins here we come!!!

yeah I saw that. didn't see anything about TQ.

the extra hp is always great but in the grand scheme of things, 10 hp on a 300wp car isn't much. it might be if the car was 90 hp and then add 10hp to that, then you can feel something.

I will have to assume the transmission or engine mapping has been tweaked to where it might be a little more aggressive or better than the current mapping.

Okay, so here's the REAL question:

The A3 will get the same iteration of the 2.0T that the '17 A4 has - 252 hp / 273 tq.

What, if any, are the mechanical differences between that engine and the 2.0T in the '15/16 A3 and if there are none (i.e. if it's just tuning) can we have that?

Good question, will the 2017 A3 FWD get the current 2.0t and lose the 1.8t?

My best guess is the 2017 A3 fwd will get a "new" 2.0t with 190hp.

A 2017 A3 2.0T Quattro with the new 2.0T from the new A4 should be nice!!!

The S3's 2.0T has beefed up internals among other things...

The other forums are saying the 2017 S3 has an extra 14.8 lbs of TQ

From what I've seen on other publications the 2.0 in the A3'will be detuned to 188 or 190 hp. The A4 will get the 250hp tune. We will have to wait and see I guess.

I like the facelift and hence, I have to admit I'm a bit annoyed it came so soon. The new A4 looks excellent in person IMO, so the new A3/S3 should look good too. I feel like I just purchased my S3 though. Seems early to refresh the S3 already but what are you going to do. The virtual cockpit is pretty cool. I'll be curious if the initial throttle delay issue from stop is reduced on the newer iteration as well.

    Very welcome marginal improvements

I actually happen to like the new 2017 A/S3. Audi improved upon an already awesome looking sedan (I am talking about the US sedan version). Same headlights as new A4, new and more aggressive front facia (this one is subjective and people are likely have different opinions on that) and I happen to really like it. Other than the front facia I don't see any other exterior changes though except different LED rear lights (although the shapewise it appears the rear lights are same).

Other notable improvements as az members noted above are the addition of virtual cockpit, the latest version of Audi's MMI, new (same as new TT and A4) steering and I love it! Perhaps more choice in interior color? What about 3D B&O system similar to one in new A4? Also additional 10 hp are a welcome upgrade however small it may seem. What it means is the torque remains same (no change in pulling power) but the pick torque is allowed to climb a little higher in RPM range, thus increase in hp. I really think HP number should exceed the number of ft-lb of torque by good margin, which would indicate higher revving engine giving the vehicle more sporty characteristic. Vehicles with higher torque than hp normally intended for mid range power that is designed for the comfort and ease of use of power.

Yes it sucks to admit that my one year S3 already has a marginally better successor but that is alright to admit.

If it is going to be 2017 MY in Europe then there is a good chance it will be available in US during the second half of 2017 as a 2018 MY.

Not a fan of the new headlights or tail lights. I do like the new mmi and I guess Audi also improved on the haldex responsiveness. I bet it's all just software tweeks. Wish we could get updated.

Agree with you on everything. No need to hate on it just because it's newer and we don't have it. Looks like an improvement across the board.

I think most do cause they have payments outstanding.

man, Audi is really pumping out change recently. Now if they can tweak the line-up a tad and put a sportback in the mix, it will make my decisions easier.
Definitely making that RS3 more appealing....all I care is next year is going to be a great year as it's time to retire the S4 if I hit 160k and only have 30k to go
