Loss of power steering followed by camshaft sensor failures

So today I was driving out of a parking lot when all of the sudden the power steering goes dead and I get an ECP light I pull over to the side of the road and the engine hesitates and the idle starts to lower itself until the car finally dies.

Got the code "camshaft position sensor a circuit high input b1", I'm worried that my recent timing chain change might have messed something up, do I only need to replace the sensor for this, and why would it be reading low voltage if the starter works?

The sensor has 3 wires.one ground one 5v and 0-5v
Butbitell you I drove around for a day once as I forgot to plug it in. So you have something else going on.
