I'd be curious about that too, the only consideration is that they will sell fewer kits for the A4, so r&d cost may be higher. That wouldn't explain why it wouldn't be plug and play at the higher cost though.

Total cost 990$ for a K04 install including coolant and oil. Does it seem extremely over priced?

You live in the Bay Area, EVERYTHING is overpriced! In all seriousness, a grand including oil/coolant isnt too far off what shops up here charge. Don't forget though, you'll need colder plugs and K04 software.

Software is included they are an APR dealer. I found another shop (non APR dealer) willing to install for 750 oil/coolant included. Wonder if the APR dealer will get passed for going else where knowing I'll have to go back to them to get the K04 file. Lol
Thanks though for your feedback, I thought I was getting robbed big time

I would go with whom you trust, you want to be confident on the install and customer support with a big job like this. A few hundred bucks will not seem alot compared to the headaches of a questionable install etc. As stated above, you are in a high priced area. Thats like me going to manhattan for my install. Good luck and keep us posted!

Hey audiziner's! I just want to say thanks for all the ko4 comments you guys posted. I really don't post much on here but i do read a lot of what is posted on here so i can learn as much as possible about our platform. Reading all the stuff on here is making want to go with a k04 instead of the unreleased EFR kit. So my question is why haven't any of you guys consider the unitronic ko4 kit. I'm having a hard time deciding if i should go with that kit vs APR ko4 kit. The only reasons i want the unitronic ko4 because it will save me some money on the installation and no tax on it. With APR i would need to order it through the dealer and have them install it. Only downside is uni puts out 50 lbs less of torque. Let me know what you guys think.

You pretty much hit the mark, they have it detuned dramatically, and I can't remember if they have a high torque tune or not.

My 13 isn't e85 compatible. That's why i gave them a consideration. I heard from the gti community that they outperform APRs customer service and i think that there is a possibility that uni can provide me with new files for more power if i wanted but I'm not 100 % sure about. I would need to contact them to confirm.

Vs 355hp /34x ft lbs for the HPA, which seems a bit low considering that there is a manifold with it. I know some people are going to get scared off due to the fab work, but...
And basically 350/340 for APR, with no fab work.
Out of those 3 I like the Uni and HPA turbo design the best because they eliminate that turbo muffler, everyone sells the delete for the IHI now for a reason, smoother transition and less surging.

Don't take into account all those numbers you see , yo don't know how and which dyno was used. The apt numbers don't use dynojet, and you will see high numbers on they're Webster once you dyno on true awd dyno you'll get lower numbers like me. Just go with a good kit and install it with a good mechanic, it is a bolt on but still some mechanics suck.
I got the k04 from cts and I installed it in a clean shop young brothers and so far I'm happy, not one problem to report

Yeah I take them with a grain of salt, and the CTS kit is a contender too. Pretty sure they will all be within 8-10 hp of one another depending on the other mods.

    For the K04 owners:

Do you all have an HFC? I have an HFC from 034, i guess it kinda smells.
Some guy at my work chased me down the street on foot and took a pic of my license plate rear...i confronted him and he said he would report me to the environmental air blablabla cause my exhaust stinks and seems illegal LOL! We had a long argument and he left.

I don't really give a shiet about his report, but my question is are you guys using an HFC that has less smell are there other options? I sometime am at idle and cant have the windows down cause my kids might smell that

If you guys can wait another 3 1/2 weeks for a report, HPA is performing the install on my AR. Right after, I am driving it over to RPI Equip for the APR K04 file.

For their turbo setup you have to use their hfc/tp. It curves unlike the normal hfc/tp.

From a cost standpoint, the CTS kit is substantially cheaper than the APR. I priced out CTS's kit w/HFC for $2519.99 whereas APR's kit with the loyalty discount is $2999.99. PLUS, if you don't have a HFC, you'll have to buy one. Doing the math, that's almost $400 cheaper and you get a HFC.

If you buy from cts, you still need to get the software from apr for 900, if you buy k04 from apr, it includes the software

It's only $500 to upgrade APR software, couldn't you get the turbo from CTS and then pay APR $500 to upgrade to their K04 file?

From my understanding its $500 for the k04 if you have APR software already?

$2599 from CTS website with Magnaflow HFC + $499 APR Ko4 file

    Vs.

$2999 APR Ko4 kit IF you are existing customer.
You still get more for your dollar with CTS because of HFC if you don't have one, or are concerned about it being a full Ko4 turbo. I went with APR because its what my dealer sold and supported, otherwise I would have gone CTS.

That's a CTS Kit you can tell by the recirc valve hose that's been welded on. I'm assuming your shop ordered the kit for you??
