Just wondering if any of you guys have thought about buying the efr 6758 from turbozentrum for about $2500 then just getting a tr11 fmic and using apr's efr tune when it comes out? Would only be probably $3500 total vs the supposed $5-5500 for their kit. I remember seeing one guy jerry something on here put an efr in his a4 but couldn't get the tune perfect with eurodyne

He also had a ton of issues with getting oil lines to work. And that they were constantly leaking. The exhaust housing also had clearance issues with the motor mounts and the flange is also slightly different from out cat pipes flange as well.you'll also be dealing with making custom intake piping pre turbo or air filter side... Lots of work to. So your savings may not end up being savings...

Don't really see them offering their tune for a turbo that's not part of the upcoming kit...

Any feedbacks on this product from k04 users?
I'm out to pill the trigger on WM kit and stumble upon this, Seems like the WM kit and this would go hand in hand?

VNA4, if you're looking into an upgraded manifold, check out HPA's offering. http://www.hpamotorsports.com/product_20tim.html

I say this because a local AZ member to me had their K04 kit/manifold and HPA's tune and put down some great numbers. Take a look at inNout's thread: http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...ifold-K04-Tune

He put down 333WHP/328WTQ at the wheels and using a 15% drive train loss, that's 383/377 on Washington state 92 octane. I don't know about you, that's pretty impressive numbers from a 2.0L. You'll also have to keep in mind, his tune was custom made due to the manifold. Should you go with an upgraded manifold, you'll most likely need a custom tune as well to extract the most out of the increased air flow.

    Thanks man, good feedback.
    1. Just to confirm last time I read I thought HPA was getting negative reviews from their k04 kit and what not?
    2. In terms of custom tune, this would mean I'd have to get rid of the k04 APR? I'm not familiar with custom tunes at all...does that mean I have to tweak/adjust things around from my computer or whichever company I go with would write it up for me

From my knowledge, there were no negative reviews. Up to the point of me removing the K04 before trade-in, I was damn happy. inNout started a little different as he had software related issues. This stemmed from his manual transmission setup. In the end though, HPA got the glitched figured out so he's a pretty happy camper!
Should you go with an upgraded manifold, you'll need to have a tuning shop dyno your car so they can calibrate technical points within the software. These would be specific for your setup. It's not longer an "off the shelf" setup at that point. You can use your existing APR K04 file, but I can tell you, it wont be running up to it's full potential.

I just bought an HPA kit and and am very excited about it. Full kit: intake manifold turbo high flow cat and software.

The intake manifold is also ready to receive water methanol injection for my daily driver. I chose HPA because not only is it the best price but I believe that it's the most to systemic solution. In other words you don't have to get components from one place and software from another. That just seemed too disconnected for me.

Besides, the dynograph posted by INnOut is the best i've seen thus far for the 2.0T in a daily driving scenario. It basically mimics the linear nature of the 3.0T platform right up until redline (only possible with the Intake Manifold) with substantial 'area under the curve'.

On top of all of that, customer service has been remarkable thus far. I'm so excited to get this all bolted up as soon as it arrives!

When you say stage 2+, are you referring to K04? If not, what is stage 2+?, don't see it on APR's website.

I hit 161* on Stage 2 before letting off the gas. I can't wait to see what K04 will do, should have it installed next Saturday!

I agree with you that the stage 2+ is mostly likely being referred to as the K04 upgrade. Stage 3 I would lean towards the EFR system.

I would just call the k04 upgrade, k04 rather then stg,2+..
Apr calls the e85 stg2 program stg2 plus... Hence stg3 meaning a non oem turbo upgrade "efr"

I'm also looking at the HPA mani to go with the k04 and hfc..what are you guys that are running an upgraded mani (hpa, ie, etc.) doing about the runner flaps? I am looking for a tuner that is able to do a rfd. I don't believe any of the ots tunes do?

The B7s had a nice rfd solution, but nothing for us

In theory you should be able to go into the ecu and delete the code for the fault, but again I'm trying to see if any local tuners can do this (I know on some cars the coding is "locked"). Another option I'm trying to look into is to solder resistors in the position of the runner flaps to constantly give a signal. Not sure if this is possible.

I've asked APR multiple time for the flapper delete and they refuse so don't waste your time with them for the flap delete.

Great info guys, I'm leaning more towards the K04 now. More cost effective to me and just enough power to play around with. It's not like I have the autobahn anymore so it's not worth the EFR I don't think. Just my thoughts, keep the info flowing, I enjoy the reviews, mods and fixes. Helps me out before I pull the trigger.

Have had my CTS k04 on now for about two weeks. Initially the smell was really bad because the test pipe, but it has started to burn in and the smell isn't as noticeable anymore. Other than the smell, it is a blast. I do mostly highway driving and the power comes on strong as soon as you mash it. need to be careful passing cars since 100 comes very quick. very pedal responce. Would definitely recommend to TheFifthDagree.

Great info. I'll look into Eurodyne.

Also a side note, S3 injectors will NOT fit in our EA888 engines. There are no performance injectors on the market. I was told that they would work, but after some digging, they will not.

Average labor time when I was looking was about 6-5 hours. I don't think you wasted your time on carbon cleaning, I'm looking to doing that for my car when it hits 60k miles in a few weeks.

The longer this EFR kit takes, and more I start to think and value long-term reliability, the more the K04 seems like the appropriate choice.

Logic: If you want 500hp, the B8 A4 is not the car to do it in, especially for a daily driver.

Yep, that's why I think I've given up on the EFR.

Im afraid not VNA, Sold it to another member here. After we started looking at colleges for my eldest I have come to realize I need to start saving up more and/or paying off some debts faster before my kid starts college.

That was my thinking exactly, plus If I really wanted to do EFR and enjoy it with peace of mind that my engine will be fine I would have upgraded my internals as well!.

I have had no regrets this far on going Ko4, perfectly tame for DD with a side of kick in the nuts when I want to. Their are other platforms that can put out more power if that is what you are looking for.

Also a side note, S3 injectors will NOT fit in our EA888 engines. There are no performance injectors on the market. I was told that they would work, but after some digging, they will not.
    I thought @slowone11 was running s3 injectors

You get the same file from APR regardless of HFC or TP.

Im planning on swapping the intake manifold and installing the WM kit (not sure which brand yet but still researching)...I was told from a shop that it would be wiser to swap intake manifold before the WM Kit. Since the WM kit would require a spacer and what not for our plastic manifold. Any thoughts on that?

Agree with you... And besides we run pretty much the same torque on e85.. tho slightly down in hp by around 30 or so...
