Purchasing an S6 - Costco or Dealer?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So I'm going to order an S6 in the few weeks and I'm wondering if anyone recommends the Costco Auto Buying Program? I see that Audi is already giving good deals and I'm eligible for the $1,000 Conquest offer coming from BMW. Am I better off going into the dealer at the end of the month and haggling, or will I get a similar deal through Costco?

I don't mind haggling if I get get over $1,000 savings. Otherwise I would rather just go the easy route.

    Any feedback is appreciated.

See what Costco has to offer you, then take it down to the dealership and tell them to beat it. Another discount you might qualify for, is your local Audi Club chapter. Up here in Seattle, you get a few hundred dollars off for being a member of the Audi Club, NW chapter.

You should be able to get 6% off of your car at least!

Agreed with DJ. At the least 6% off. There are people in here who were able to negotiate it down to 10% off but that was on $90k+ cars.

I agreed, take the number you get from Costco and show it to the dealership to see if they are willing to beat that.

I managed to get a 10.5% discount on my 16 S6 @ Msrp $86758. However, I also bought an A6 for the wife. So got much better discount with two cars.

It's my understanding that Costco hooks you up with a Dealer who in turn gives you the Costco discount, so I'm not sure I could ask them to NOT give me the Costco discount after they do that.

Although with people getting over 6% off MSRP, I think I have the answer to my question - deal direct.

Is this something dealers are pretty willing to do? Is it possible to get 6% off a custom order?

Depends how well you can negotiate. Larger down payment, trade in, and history of previous purchases or trying to buy car off their lot you can get better deals.

I think you can get 6% but be prepared to walk away if you can't get. They always call back.

Yeah, if you are willing to walk away and patient you will be able to get a good deal! I normally am not able to do that but on this car I was able to get 6% discount plus able to negotiate the rate down and get the deal I wanted but that was with me walking away and buying the car a few weeks after I originally went in.

Is that for a 2016 or 2017? Building one to your specs or finding one on a lot somewhere?

2016 - They are brining it in from another dealership. Exact specs I requested and I am not using AFS.

If you can get the same discount through Costco (say 6% off MSRP plus additional incentives) and some extra Costco benefits (a friend got a $1k Costco cash card for buying a new truck recently), I'd go with Costco in that situation.
