Tech Package Worth It?

Hey guys...I have been dealing on a 2016 S3 with the tech pack, B&O, black optics performance and red calipers for about two weeks now. I'm at about 9.5% off MSRP, which from my research seems good, but not great. I was about to pull the trigger on it tonight, but I thought about if I really need the tech pack or not. In my current car I have nav and I use it maybe once a month if that. I live in a city with ~60k people and know my way around well so I never need it. The only time I use it is when I'm out of town. Plus when the Audi Connect service free trial runs out I will not be renewing it.

If I opt to order one without will I be losing any notable features with streaming, voice dialing, etc? Or is it basically just a smaller screen without nav? Is there any benefit to getting it for resale value when I change vehicles in 5-6 years? I've driven VWs for a long time so I'm new to how Audi's package/options work. Any help would be much appreciated!

I'm waiting to hear if they can get me one without the tech package. I don't exactly know what I'd be getting other than audi connect, 7" screen and side assist.

I am considering purchasing an S3 this year and was wondering the same thing. Does anyone have pictures of the difference in the screens?

The screen shrinks down to a 5.8" and the resolution is terrible. Low quality.

Honestly, you should try to see for yourself tomorrow, if they have two you can compare. I got the tech package because of the screen quality. Looks cheap and unappealing without it.

If I could figure out how to post from Dropbox I could show you comparison like for like images of the 5.8" and 7" screens - as has been said the 5.8 is low res and quite blocky but people who have it get on with it quite well.

In the UK with the tech pack you get the maps stored on a HDD so it frees up both SD card slots - without tech pack a slot is needed for the map data. Both SD cards can take up to 256Gb capacity cards and there's also 10Gb usable storage on the HDD for a music jukebox. You also get a DVD drive rather than a CD drive and on the centre console (DVD drive and B&O is awesome playing 5.1 surround). The main MMI dial the top surface is a touch pad for handwriting recognition - very useful for sat nav entry but also for music searches. Probably specific to the UK is the 5 say nav updates that it includes one every 6 months.

They actually have one on the way without tech package. I'm a person who likes features and extras but there's a point where the cost outweighs the benefit. Kind of a tough choice. I guess if it will help resale value it may be worth it

I'm just doing window tint and possibly a carbonio intake. Possibly the res delete down the road. My current VW is pretty modded out and I've run into some issues with warranty.

Do any of you know if the pano roof is tinted very dark? Does it let a lot of light in? I've always had normal sunroofs with 35% window tint on my side windows. I might go down to 20 or 25 if that lets in a lot

Yes it's quite dark but what % I couldn't tell you. If you look out of it it's very weather dependant on how bright you feel it is but it does let a nice amount of light in which is good with all black seats and black headliner - in a year I've never pulled the blind closed so never too hot or light but having said that in in the UK LoL !!
