Actually it is a valid comment since the price will be more than retail if you need to register it to your own name. A $99 value.

^^^albeit, aren't these plug and play since the cable acts as a dongle? (Rhetorical question.) I've never registered mine and actually had the software downloaded before I even received the cable from ross tech. I'm not defending the asking price though.

This is true if you only want to make the mods in the FAQ section. However if you want to use the tool for what it can really do, having the support is HIGHLY recommended and can ONLY be obtained by ownership transfer / registration.

Need to swap out a module, might need support. Want to retrofit front parking sensors, you'll probably need support..... you get the idea.

I was really trying to keep this stuff in PM until you insulted me there and others chimed in. Based on your PM, your "friend" paid $290 and now wants to sell it for $300. Hum, seems like a good deal....for your friend, considering they are $349 shipped from several places.

The bigger problem here is its clear your "friend" isn't the original purchaser so if someone buys it they might not even be able to register it since Ross-Tech checks with the original owner and won't register to anyone else for support unless the original owner gives them permission first.

That's funny, I thought you insulted me. You were making a big deal over 25$. Like I told you most people don't care about the warranty or registration. You were making a big deal about that too. My friend just wanted to cover shipping for the 10$ which isn't a big deal as you clearly are making that out to be too. Buy a new one and but out, it's pretty simple. These things sell all day long from 250-300. I'm just trying to help a friend out and you want to shoot the messenger. You are one of the reasons he doesn't mess with the forums.

Saw your ad and OP comments. Hate to say it but depending on your view of "basically", his statement was correct. Your "used" price is less than a 15% savings over a new one, but comes with no warranty and support will cost you $99 to become a "registered user".

Europa Parts sell this new for $349 shipped everyday. I once even saw it on sale there but that is very rare and actually might have been a mistake.

Ask your friend if he's willing to take $225, that only saves me $25 after paying for support. I could PayPal the money today with a confirmed shipping address.

There is no need to register the cable. You don't need support from Ross Tech. Everything you would need info wise is here on AZ. My buddy is not going below 300 as of now. He bought it for 290 and wants to cover shipping. It is a 50$ savings from new which is a nice chunk of change.

50 off the original price is a good deal. We are talking 300 here not 30k. Most people don't care about a warranty for a 300$ part. If you need support for it then it sounds like you don't know what you're doing with it. The warranty and support really are nothing and these things sell all day long from 275 to 300. If 50$ isn't a big deal to you then why waste my time and just buy a new one. You're obviously looking for a deal. Cut out one of your 300$ meals and buy a new one.

I chose to contact you through PM to avoid bringing to light what OP originally posted regarding the price, which I believed to be true. After you rejected my offer I said thanks and good luck, then simply explained my preference and WHY this doesn't work for me, sorry if my reasoning is insulting but it's the truth.

Now talking about insulting, why is it necessary for you to assume I "don't know what I'm doing with it" if I'm concerned about support? On the contrary, you need Ross Tech's support when you DO know what the tool is actually capable of and do know what your doing. It's when your really using the tool and doing the things you can't read about on AZ when you need Ross Tech's support. It's also about the ability to upgrade the unit in the future which is only possible if your a registered user.

Also, why is $50 off a "good deal for me" while your friend has used it for some period of time and is looking to get ALL their money back?

I don't need one right now and you are correct, I am looking for a deal and this isn't one. $50 isn't a big deal for me and if used ones can only be had for $275-$300 then your damned right that I'll be buying a new one, but I thought I had already made that clear. I'm not trying to insult but I also want to set the record straight since I never made a "big deal over $25". I only stated my offer would save me about $25 after the cost of support, which may or may not be needed but should always be factored in.

I don't care that it's all out there. Theres really no harm here. It's obvious you wanted a new one from the beginning and wasted my time and cluttered up my for sale ad now so thank you for that. LOL, I'm not wasting my time with this tool because his meals regulary cost over $50 a plate but can't cough up $350 for a new cable and then makes a big deal about it. A savings of $50 for the cable means a good bit to a lot of buyers here. I bought mine used and haven't had any issues and don't recall seeing any warranty issues on here about them.
