Like a total clown my stupid long legs accidentally knocked the headlight knob thingy today and pushed it in. So now rather than being flush to the surround it's pushed in by 2cm. Looks shit and not a great mod. But hey it's a mod ;-)
So rather than take it to my retarded dealer who tend to break more shit than needs fixing inwonderd if and kind folks may be able to offer a simple solution to fix it. I myself am excellent with hammers and that's about it so it needs to be simple..
It won't pull out so I think I need to remove the bevel or just get a hammer and smash it but I don't think that will help.
Or do I just take it to the tards?

Happened on my 2013 A6. Pull it out. Wont break or come out completely. It will just come out into its original position.

Maybe lm missing something here, but don't you have to push it in, for it to pop out - assuming you are talking about the dash intensity control knob....?

This thread is quite phallic. Maybe post a picture so we know which knob what you are talking about?

I've just seen his post on an other Audi forum.

He's talking about the actual headlight control switch (off, Auto, sidelights, main etc.) not the control knob for the instrument lighting.

If it's popped into the bezel, then it probably just needs pushing from behind to pop it back.

You have a few options to get to the back of the switch:

Drop the lower half of the dash cover and reach up.
Remove the side panel (where the fuses/relays are) you may just have enough space to get a finger in, or a screwdriver, and push it forward that way.

Its the actual knob that we turn to switch to parking lights and so on. I had accidentally hit my knee while getting in my 2013 A6. The knob got pushed in. I just pulled on it with a little force and it popped back into place

Here's a couple of ebay listings that have pictures of the back and sides. Might help in planning what need to be done.

I did exactly this on my RS7.. They couldn't have positioned that knob in a worse place lol. I tried to pull it out on several occasions but to no avail. I thought it was broken so I just left it thinking i''ll get it fixed at next service but I tried to pull it out again another day and it popped back out good as new. You really have to grip it hard with your fingers and pull hard.

I agree. Have a bruise on my knee from this morning, luckily the switch is fine. Now I know why all the instrument binnacle light adjuster are broken in A6/A7s.

I turn my headlights off with my knee from time to time. Poor placement of a control if you ask me.

All fixed thanks for all the suggestions. I went back in to the car later that evening ready to tell it to fuck right off and gripped it as hard as I could and pulled much harder this time. I thought it was going to break but then 'POP' out she came.
If you're not a midget i see this happening occasionally.
Cheers anyway i couldn't have done it without your suggestions.
