Of course it's sales on the two intakes i'm more than likely not going to get. I guess that's what i get for wanting the APR Carbonio intake.

Just out of curiosity, why are you preferring the Carbonio over the ECS unit? In my personal opinion, the ECS kit fits better and has better hardware included like two heat shields - one of which is air gapped.

I've had the APR one...now ECS is under the hood. Read between the lines, not sure why you'd want an APR one if you've ever had both.

Word on the street was the ecs one yellowed way quicker than the apr one according to my sources. That's why I was leaning towards the apr but if people can provide me their experience then I'd look into the ecs.

Had my carbonio "ordered from ecs" on for a year...no yellows or greens as of yet.,
I do admire the build Design of ecs's.. It being a well designed and thought out construction...

How is this possible the intake hasn't been around long enough, pics or it didn't happen? APR fit like shit even with the new bracket they provide. Fitment is not even comparable between the two, also the ECS intake seems like it spools faster and less effort needed. All to their own but you've been told by multiple people which have had both which is better.

Both ECS and APR made intakes for the b7 and have been on the market for some time now, so it's only really new for b8.5. And I've heard about the problems with fitment by people with the APR intake. Thanks for your advice guys. Definitely going to look more into the ECS intake.

Yeah, but ECS has made this intake for the S4 and B7 guys for some time now. It's only new to the B8 A4 platform. I think that's the point he was trying to make in regards to yellowing.

I understand, but as the years go bye production process isn't always the same. Issues with previous models might not exist anymore. Maybe Jason can chime is on this if any issue has been resolved from previous gen's.

Just installed this and was curious about this extra piece that was on the front lower part of the air scoop. It was no where to be found on the pdf and was curious if I should leave it off or not. Seems to be just an additional filter.

^^^I just installed mine and left it on. There's some little tabs on the side that keep it kind of secure and its held in place by the top radiator shroud when reinstalled. I'd rather not find leaves and rocks in my engine bay!

It's considered a snow screen. I leave mine in also to help keep debris out. Give it a cleaning every few months.

Was wondering about the difference between the two intakes besides the obvious lack of an enclosed box. Maybe @ECS Tuning-Audi can answer. The performance graphs look the same between the Kohlefaser and open versions. Is it really just aesthetics or something else too? Also for us in CA, is this really not CARB approved? Is it a matter of CARB just getting around to approving or is this so disruptive to the emissions somehow that it probably won't ever be? Will this really keep me from passing a smog? Lots of questions but I really want to get this for some irrational reason.

Edit: my bad. Answers all on a similarly named thread from ECS. For anyone stumbling into this thread, answers are: performance the same between the two, possible slight muffled sound with CF cover, doesn't really affect emissions but could possibly get flagged for modifying intake, no immediate plans for CARB approval, revert to stock if getting flagged is concerning.
