    Exclamation Leak + Sound?

Hey guys, recently did my brakes all around and I seem to have developed a new hissing sound on my car....But only when turning right??

Please watch this video and and let me know if you hear it...I am NOT pressing the brakes while turning but it sounds like something is rubbing....Ideas?? Turn your volume up and try to ignore the wind noise Not sure if it is coming from the left or right side...

Also guys, after topping off my brake fluid and wiping everything down, I realized I have some kind of leak developing in my engine bay Anybody know what it could be? Dirty brown color, fairly thick, but no smell....

Looks like the steering rack, mine leaked and collected on that area.

Did you have any symptoms other than the leak naiku? How did you resolve the leak?

I hope I can just replace the rubber boot or one time use clamp to stop the leak instead of having to replace the whole steering rack....

Replaced the whole steering rack. Sorry!!

For the record, my steering rack was initially leaking from the other side, you cannot replace the boot or clamp. Symptoms were PS fluid disappearing, groaning while turning and power steering fluid sprayed all over the tire / wheel well. However, the replacement steering rack was leaking from the lines up there (the lines are right above that flat piece, you can sort of reach in from the top and feel them). So, you might be lucky in that it is just the power steering lines leaking and not the rack itself. Jack it up, take off the passenger wheel and remove the little plastic piece so you can see the lines and you may be able to determine where the fluid is leaking from.

    Why do you say that?

Haha believe me I wanted to replace the clamp, boot, seal etc. but all the threads I looked into said it is not serviceable and to replace the rack. Check your hoses first though, as I said mine was leaking initially from the other side but the replacement was leaking from that area which is where the hoses (and I think pump) are all located.

Ok, thanks nailu Now, if my leak is in fact coming from one of those hoses instead, are they independently servicable or would I still have to place the rack?

I am so confused because my power steering still works so well....Lots of power, no sounds, etc, hate to unnecessarily replace the rack for no reason other than a small leak

That piece I am not sure about, but I would bet you can replace the hoses if it's those that are leaking.
