Does anyone know if it is possible to pass CA smog with the 034motorsprosts Secondary Air Pump delete? I know it throws a CEL, is there a way on VAG around this? Take off CEL and allow to pass smog.

    Thanks!

You won't pass if you have a CEL. You need to get it coded out.

With the right tuner this can be coded out "properly" and allow it to pass SMOG.

You have another problem though: the visual check. They're gonna look for the components and if they don't see them, they will fail your car.

I have a shop that is fine with missing parts just have to get SAP coded out. Is there a code for it? or does the tuner usually write something?

@grapebandit what do you mean resistor wont throw codes? Can I install that in place of the SAP?

    Thanks for the input!!

you can literally just plug the resistor into the 2 pins on the SAP electrical plug or solder it in. I know it works on b5's, it should be the same for b6. the resistors can be had at radioshack. a pack of 5 cost $1.99. you need 300ohm 1/2 watt resistors

said resistor works for SAP, N80, and N75. probably the n249 too

Unfortunately that isn't going to work with the B6. The SAI is monitored by the front oxygen sensor. It is looking for specific changes in the A/F ratio. All the resistor will do is prevent an open circuit code when you remove the pump.

Then 45 seconds after the SAI cycle completes the ECM turns the pump back on for 5 seconds and again checks the A/F ratio to confirm that the SAI works.

Listen for it at your next cold start and you will notice a slight blip in the RPM as this occurs.
