Hi, I'm new here and new to Audi's. Just purchased an 02 A6 2.7T and could use a few tips, first of all, where's the best place to buy oem parts? I need to replace a bunch of vacuum hoses and would prefer using the oem molded hoses. Also, I have a dimming interior light issue, from searching, the most likely issue seems to be a corroded ground wire under the door sill...anybody have a link on the best way to access that?

Here's a pic of my new purchase:

Got her for only 800 bucks, needs some work, but I think she'll make an awesome daily.

And here's a pic of my baby:

I'm not TOO into Nissan, but 300ZX? Looks killer though!

Welcome my man. $800 is a killer price, you'll enjoy it for sure. I buy all my OEM stuff from either Europa Parts or ECS Tuning. Both are pretty far from Washington so hopefully some left coasters will have some closer suggestions.

To remove the door sill there is a plastic screw cover at the base of each A pillar in either footwell (it's trapezoidal shaped). Under there is a small-ish torx (T-20?). Once that is off the base of the A pillar can be pulled away a bit so the sill can be popped out. It pulls straight up in each door jamb (front and rear), and pulls toward the middle of the car at the B pillar. It's just held on by clips and it helps to get a pry tool underneath.

    Good luck!

Yeah, I would prefer a manual, but the triptronic doesn't seem so bad, I have a Lexus GS300 as my current daily and that is a shit transmission! Anyways, just ordered a bunch of stuff from ECS Tuning and got free shipping, though it's going to take an age to get here I'm in no hurry, lots of little things to tinker with while I wait for parts :)

Hard to see, but it was wet as hell in there, what causes this and what's the best way to correct it?

Is that drivers side or passenger side? Looks like pass side.

Drivers side is central convenience module, passenger side is tcm.

Causes are usually clogged sunroof drains or poor seals on the airbox/ecu box to the cabin.

I buy most of my OEM parts from Jim Ellis Audi, prices are hard to beat and they're website is easy to navigate with exploded views of sub assemblies.

There's a drain hole under the battery that gets clogged, causing that area to fill up with water and water will enter the cabin via the cabin air filter.

There's usually a rubber grommet in the drain hole that I, and I'd assume most others, just remove because all it helps with is getting clogged up.

Sunroof drains and windshield cowl are other possible culprits, but I'd bet it's that drain hole. Super easy to check it out.

Good luck, there's mixed opinions as to service the trans at this point, the auto trans in the c5 a6 is a ticking time bomb, not if, but when.

Some say if the fluid hasn't been changed within a certain amount of time/miles, to just leave it alone, if it ain't broke don't fix it.

If it's already slipping, then I guess you've got nothing to lose. Good luck either way.

I'll look into the drain tube this weekend, no time during the week working 12's. I had a tranny error ,Torque converter solenoid stuck open, if I recall correctly and the tranny pan is dented up pretty good, So I already got a service kit with new oil pan on the way, figured it couldn't hurt.

One piece of advice, tackle the big projects first instead of the little projects. If you come up against something you're not willing to pay for, say the transmission needs to be replaced, then you won't have wasted time and money on the little stuff.

So I got to reading the tranny service tech article and seems I need a VAG-COM cable and software, Do I have to get the $350.00 set-up from Audi or is there a cheaper alternative that I can use?
