First off my car (2001 1.8t Quattro) was out of commission for quite a while till I could get all the parts to do all the suspension so it's been a long time since it had a good highway run which happened a few days ago. My question is I think my oil is running hotter than it should be.
At 125kmph (77mph) my oil is steady 110c (230f) and when I slow to 80kmph (50mph) it drops to 103c (217f) and will stay steady there unless I go back up to highway speeds.
Is that too high?
I run total Quartz 5w40 changed every 8000km (5000miles). And currently have 266,000km (165,000 miles) on the motor.
I recently had to replace the cam cover gasket and saw ZERO sludge built up up there.
I'm debating on a front mount oil cooler, would that help? If so could someone point me to a write up please?
Also the coolant never sways from 90-92c (194-197f).
