How to set MS Word settings back to default?

mine is all jacked up. when i open a new document, all the margins and stuff are messed, and it makes me start typing at the very top of the page, which is ok for taking notes, but for writing papers it looks bad, so i always have to open an old document and erase it and then do a save as. Is there a way to change it all back to default? i cant figure it out and its driving me crazy.

It's not actually how it types. You're probably looking at a different page setup. Go to View Page --> Print Layout and everything will look normal again. I think...

the left ruler thing doesnt have any margins set on it either... i think i should take a screenshot to show whats going on here.. hang on

i'm w/ pierce. it sounds like you want the print layout. like he said it's under the view tab. it sounds like you are on the 'normal' layout now.

normal on top, jacked up one on the bottom... the jacked up one is now default for some reason.. lame.

to me, it almost looks like its cutting off the indentations that should be there, and just not showing them.. which i dont like.

That's definately a margins problem. Set your margin anywhere from 1.5 inches to 2 inches for each side and you should be set.

i see, i see.

open a new doc. click header & footer under the view tab. then close the new floating tool bar that pops up. that should give you a normal layout. I doubt it will save the layout for the next doc, but at least this is a start. i'll let you know if i can figure out how to fix it as the default so you don't have to do that every time.

that worked! except i dunno if it'll stay like that for new docs.

yea seriously, and the lame part is i can usually fix anything that goes wrong, but lately i havent been able to figure out any of these wierd problems. its pretty annoying. although i did fix my girlfriends computer finally, so thats 1 problem fixed out of the many. haha
