Looks Great. I like it much better than the RS4 style grille. I would have kept the metal surround if the car has metal trim. Black is perfect with black out trim. IMHO, this is how it should have come from the factory. Cost?

IMHO, getting the Black Optic Package from the beginning (if buying/configuring new) is definitely worth while. Such good value for all black trim, body paint matched mirrors, and 19" upgraded wheels for 1300$.

If buying used, then OP's method for modding makes absolute sense. BTW, OP good job, looks great

Nice job OP! Looks great! How difficult was it to pull the chrome pieces to prep for paint? And what process did you use to get them out safely?

    Looks great AudiS4Slim!
I'd love to do that to my grill but don't have indoor space.
How long did it take to remove front bumper?
to remove grill and take slats off?
    to paint?
    to reassemble grill?
to install grill and front bumper?

Thanks. I plan on blacking out the window trim and gloss black the roof too.. it cost me about $15 for paint and prep. I work at audi so i had the bumper taken off and put on for free.

Wasn't too hard just have to be really carefully and use the right size flat head. I use a hair dryer to warm up the area where they clip pop in. Then gently pulled the tabs back to release the chrome parts.

Looks good but it will be interesting to see how it holds up over time to all that hits it.

I had the filler plate on my 2010 and 2011 painted to match the body color. No problems with chipping on either.

so far so good, paint has been holding up well. As long as the prep work is done properly the paint will stick. This whole project cost me around $25. 2- gloss black spray paint cans , sandpaper fine grit and a mesh screen. took me an hour and a half to take the grill apart and prep for paint. 3 days to cure paint. 10 mins to install

Any updates on the durability of the paint used? Any recent photos too would be most appreciated too! 😁

Awesome look! What kind of mesh did you use and how did you hold it in place?

Do you know if the chrome pieces are removable? I want to keep all chrome parts chrome but that’s a lot of taping

Not sure if you were aware that you can buy the precut gloss black vinyl slats to accomplish nearly the same result.
