    Lightbulb Window Tints in So-Cal?

    Hi All,

Long shot here, but was wondering if anyone had a recommendation for a good shop to do a window tint in So-Cal (OC area please!).

Also, tint recommendations? I need a bit done on the driver and shotgun side, but not so much that I can't see - specifically at night. I really don't care about the back seats, so I'll probably go reeeeaaaaall dark there since I have the Black Optics package.

    Thanks!

A terrific tint off avery and marguerite is pretty solid. I got mine done there. 20% in the front and 15% in the rear.

Tint Plus in Laguna Hills is where I've always taken my cars. I think I did 30% all the way around with 50% or so on the windshield.

Doug does a perfect job in your garage while you do your own thing. Very convenient. He is very skilled and extends the film below your window's bottom edge; none of this "no rolling down your window for a week" BS. He does this by just removing just the top interior trim piece (where the "squeegee" is), without removing the entire interior door panel (which I have heard some idiot shops suggest is required to accomplish the same goal).

^ With the right tools there is no need to remove anything. Any good installer can get the tint below the "squeegee" line. That really has nothing to do with rolling your windows down. You don't want to roll the windows up and down due to the glue not curing properly because you can pull the top edge off of the window and possible having the "squeegee" grabbing the tint on the bottom by grabbing and pulling the tint up there too. Parking in the sun will help curing process.

My tint guy takes the side windows right out to do the film, and cuts it so well that five-O can't tell it's not factory.

I had my S3 done at Signature Glass Tinting in Costa Mesa. I went with Llumar CTX 30% all around and it looks really good.
    Really happy with their work.

Cheap tints do look ghetto, especially those with bubbles. Many ceramic and metallic tints also don't look right to me. But tinting rear and rear side windows in California is absolutely legal (unless your car has no exterior side mirrors; AFAIK that should not apply to any Audis in the U.S.). I had to get that done when my son was born because newborns have to be in rear-facing baby seats.

A ceramic tint that isn't too dark looks really good and is high quality. Other than looks, the tint really helps cool down the interior of the car on hot and sunny days. my .02
