    Check engine light

I know I should just use a scanner and check but I'm away from home in a little town I guarantee there isn't a place near with a obd2 scanner. About a week ago my check engine light came on so I did the easy things check oil level, coolant level, and airfilter. (I took an air hose and blew the filter out)It was the air filter then the light didn't pop back up until 6minutes ago. The airfilter is almost new but it's pretty dusty around here. Any ideas till I can run the code?

Oil level and coolant level have their own lights. CEL could be 1 or many of thousands of issues. Throw a dart at a list of them and maybe you'll find the issue.

As in I'm going to need new ones or what? I don't here a faint drilling noise when I start the car, and they are still putting out the same amount of boost.

Since you're asking why your check engine light is on without doing any digging yourself, I'm suggesting one possible scenario that would cause your light to come on.

If you are looking for help you should probably invest in a scanner, do some research, search the forums etc etc etc. and if after doing all of that you still can't figure it out, then ask for help.

The only reason I asked is because I'm away from home and was in a little shitty town in southdakota. No where with a scanner there.
