    Hks ssqv bov questions

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
So I put a hks ssqv bov in and now my car feels like it wants to die when I clear codes. Than goes to limp mode.... by the way I'm on a stage 1+ tune from motoza. I know I read that our cars hate bovs..... it sounds amazing so I had to at least give it a shot. Maybe the bov us leaking? Idk this sucks

The car can't read the air that the atmospheric dump valve is leaking and your car is dung because of it when you clear the codes the fuel trims go back to zero.

Do yourself a favor and buy a billet dv from somewhere and clamp on a cone intake with a heat shield and you'll have bypass air sound and the car will still run properly.

Okay.... does the car eventually adjust or does it just go crazy? I have a forge 007 hybrid diverter valve but the sound isn't as great as the hks. Can my tuner possibly tune in the hks?

problem is that your BOV is rejecting metered ("accounted for" by the MAF) air out of the system .
ALL the air that goes through the MAF should be " consumed" by the engine.

edit: is is doing that idling too ?? if so check if the BOV is completely closed at idle

It idles just fine... the issue is that it goes into limp mode after a few miles

Our ECUs can't accommodate BOVs because the mass air dumped to outside air has been metered by the MAF meter, and is a significant fraction of the total measured MAF. The ECU does not know about this, so the ECU injects the mass fuel for the MAF measured. However the measured MAF is more than the actual MAF, so the engine runs very rich fuel for a little while after a BOV boost release cycle.

Hmmm... is there a way to run this setup? If anything I'll just get the dv adapter for bov. You guys think it would sound the same? If not somewhat similar? Could a ebay intake give me that sound with a dv?

There seems to be some misinformation here.

First off, and my entire post is predicated on this, I believe the SSQV is closed at idle.

Second, you are getting a lean code. This means too much air. But if the BOV is closed at idle, it shouldn't be letting additional air in. The code you should be getting, as mentioned by diagnosticator, is a rich code. When the BOV vents, the computer will be injected to much fuel.

Simply put your hand in fornt of the BOV at idle. Is it sucking air in? If not, you have a vacuum leak somewhere else. After you put the BOV in, did you cap off all the lines?

I capped them all off. I eliminated the boost resivor, and that just left the hose that leads to the intake. It's not leaking. .... so I gotz me a massive vac leak somewhere.... damn another journey to find my problem.
