does the gas cap depressurize when you twist it open

hey guys trying to trouble shoot an issue for a friend, he's getting

P0456 (evap leak detected)

car runs and drives fine


according to the ross tech site first thing to replace was the gas cap and n80 valve

thinking it's the valve more than the cap , as this code seems to have a habbit of coming up only during cold weather



back to the question , as i'm just trying to confirm, does the gas cap depressurize or hiss when you twist it open?

mine doesn't and his doesn't either, so just wanting to confirm, mine however feels tighter and doesn't click b8.5
his b8 you can twist and there's loud audible clicks

mine doesn't do this...u can try replacing the gas cap, but more than likely its an EVAP vacuum leak somewhere other than the gas cap.

Well.. Since you're not getting the hiss when youre unscrewing the gas cap it can only mean two things.

You have a evap leak, or your evap system is doing what it should and venting :).
