I know I know it's been asked a million times but I've searched and the information is very conflicting going back years.

So I got a good deal on a used k04 and would like to swap to the wideband awm ecu.

My question is if I use the harness pictured below will it trigger any CEL's?

I would need a CH box correct?

I would be getting a tune and having the vvt coded out.

I used the same harness. Works great, you can follow the instructions off of the Unitronics site.

Sorry, yes you need a CH box you will pull a VVT CEL but that can be coded out easily like you mentioned.

I just went through a mass of trouble trying to get an ecu out of a Passat to work with my 2000 A4, it ended up not being possible because of an issue with the transmission coding. Engine runs great with it but my auto trans won't shift manually or by itself so stay away from VW ECU's

Best bet is to just get the 4B0 906 018 CH that everyone uses and be done with it. I ended up buying one yesterday off of eBay for $53 and I'm having it drop shipped to Motoza.

There's a list one one of the Audi sites with all the cross compatibility but I can't find it at the moment.
