Hey guys I just picked up an '01 Pelican Blue 1.8tqm.
It all happened by luck. I had been searching for about a month or so and also posted a wanted ad. Had a look at a couple that either weren't what I wanted or not in any shape to be bought and driven. All the cars seems to be far away and a few hours drive. No stranger to the b5 a4 I had a santorin blue facelift 99 aeb a couple years ago but it was severely neglected from the previous owner. Even though it wasn't in great condition I missed the Quattro.
As I had started to wind down my search a local gentleman answered my wanted ad and met all of the specifics I was requesting in the car. (I'll go through the options later). I wasn't picky on the color as most were silver or black and he mentioned it being pelican blue as well.
Now comes the good part. Since I was starting to doubt I would find anything worthy of buying since I wanted something very specific, a friend of mine said what you need is a one owner old man driven car with low km and all maintenance records. Just so happens that it is a one owner, low km (148xxxkm), all maintenance records. Has both key fobs valet key and the plastic key, the brochure from 2001 when he bought it. I lucked out and bought it on site.
No oil leaks anywhere. Not even weeping from anywhere even the diffs. It has been very well maintained and the interior is absolutely mint. Only a couple pixels are dead in the display but still very readable. No abs problems. No check engine. Not even wrinkling in the drivers bolster. The car is fully loaded. Sport package. Xenons. Now the downside, sort of, is that about ten years ago he had rock chips fixed on the front end and it must have been a cheap fix because the clear coat is peeling on the hood. There is no rust anywhere so this is not concerning to me. I will redo myself or have the front end repainted ( part of my job). I will put up some pictures but I haven't really torn into the car yet. I had a bunch of plans to do some tasteful mods but I don't know if I will do anything to this car other than fix the paint and return it to its mint shape. It's almost too good to do anything to. Currently it is on the winter rims/tires. I have the summers with tires as well but I will be doing a full detail on them and the rest of the car in the next couple weeks. I will stop boring you guys with all of my jibberish but wanted to tell the story since this opportunity doesn't come up so nicely very often.
Here's some pictures
Back at home. '87 cabriolet in behind. Missing is my '11 golf.
Enjoy! Thanks for looking. There will be more to come as I get things cleaned up and sorted out but the car really doesn't need any work done( minus paint).
Cheers,
Steve
