A5 to S5 trunk lid swap....any tips or any snags to avoid?

Hey fellas

I found a good deal on a used S5 trunk lid that I am going to have painted and installed on my A5. I tried searching for any threads on how to swap lids without luck. My brothers brother in law who is the owner of the shop is going to paint it and help me with the installation. I'm pretty sure he's got a good idea on what is involved but wanted to see if there was anyone out there with first hand experience on doing this.

I figured I would need to remove the trunk liner and carefully start disconnecting the tail light harnesses and trunk actuator then unbolt the hinges.

Any advice would be appreciated!

Haha...already asked him...his shop did it so he doesn't know. Thanks for the suggestion though.

Just picked up the S5 trunk lid from FedEx freight. I started to disassemble the wiring, the inside trunk lid liner, reverse lights and trunk sensor button. All in all not too bad and pretty straight forward. I think the hardest part or the part you have to be very careful with is when removing the three bolts on each side of the trunk lid that holds it to hinges. You'll need a friend to help you there.

I'll be taking the lid to my brother in law shortly and post some pics when it's done.

Let me know how this goes. I've thought about it myself, if I could find a used one for cheap enough.

Will do...there's a few on eBay...the one I got was in mint shape...I guess I lucked out.
