Question No start, bad battery or starter?

I just bought this car. PO told me battery is bad, he had jumper cables in car when I test drove it. I just want to make sure you guys think it's the battery and not something else before I go out and buy another. I tried to hook up my bluetooth dongle for the torque app on my phone, but for some reason it would not connect. It works fine in all the other cars I have ever tried it on.
    Any thoughts?

    Lol. Wut.

There's a volt meter right on the cluster. You may as well have 0V.

Does it start with a boost? If yes put your multimeter to the terminals and measure voltage. You'll get 14.X if the alternator is working.

The dongle won't work because there's not enough voltage to run the electronics.

I think you're right. Radio wouldn't turn on as well. Although the HVAC kicked in every time. I'll buy a battery and return it if that's not the issue. But It looks like it is.

Take the advice of the jvd. Just simply put a voltmeter on the battery. If you can get it to jump you can also put the voltmeter between the alternator and the ground to check voltage coming off the alternator. Healthy alternator should be pushing almost 15v at idle. Then check battery. Like jvd said it should be between 13 and 16 volts.
