Traction Control and EPC Light/ Limp Mode when car gets wet?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
A few months back I was driving in heavy rain and I noticed my car had the traction control and EPC light on. There an extreme loss of power and I wasnt able to heel and toe. Got pretty freaked out and went home, the next day it was gone. Since then its only happened when it rains pretty hard, and when my dad once brought it through the car wash. I've tried searching but I haven't really found a solid solution as to why it only happens when the car gets wet. Any Ideas?

    Thanks,

I get the same thing sometimes. From what I've read, it it likely a missing screw from the back of the ECU. The screw is what water tights the ECU.

Would you think that it would cause any damage if the ECU where to get wet?

I wouldn't imagine constant condensation is great for your ECU. Check that all screws are there, then invest in the left side engine cover.

The problem isn't if the ECU gets wet, it's when the relays and fuses at the bottom of the box get wet. Common problem when the cover is removed by breaking off the rear corner instead of removing the wiper and cowl cover to access the rear screw. Crazy, because it only takes about 2 minutes longer to do it correctly.

I've encountered stubbord wipers arms in the past that even with a puller, would'nt budge. Mine are always greased before re-install.

Doesnt justify breaking the ecu cover though, I was just saying they can be a pita.
Wagons are made to haul things, mine is made to haul ass

This was a relay for me. It also manifested into a fuel issue, since the relay for the fuel pump is there too

614 relays under the ecu. I've dealt with this issue numerous times, change both while in there since they are not to expensive. One works with the fuel pump and one with ecm I believe.

Forgot to mention that my car would especially act up after a car wash in the days leading up to it not starting at all
