I wanna get IS38 turbo on my A3.....Do i have to get the intercooler? On APR website it says highly recommended.....I'm not sure

I live in Upstate New York...So it would be pretty damn cold for half of the year.....also I won't drive the car from may to august....gone for summer break....

You probably dont need to have one but it would be very stupid to upgrade the turbo and not a crucial supporting mod, as you would not be achieving the full potential

Although its not necessory but would suggest to get aftermarket intercooler since the IS38 turbo is from S3 so why not get S3 intercooler which is lil bigger than A3 intercooler so better to invest on supporting mods as well

Don't have to. Just know you will not be getting the benefit of the larger turbo and increased boost over time as you will get heat soak

I have been running the IS38 for a little more than 1000 miles on my 2016 a3 without the intercooler and the car runs fairly well, the weather has been pretty mild for the past month here in socal. I will have the unitronic intercooler installed next week, I could tell you if I notice a difference next week. I did the downpipe and apr carbon intake right away.
