audi a6 4f key lock immobiliser light problem

I have just changed the ignition switch that was playing up and not allowing me to disengage the ignition and was bringing up the immobiliser light and symbol. So now I have changed the ignition switch with a second hand one I bought from the UK. The car now starts and stops and disengages when you take the key out BUT the remotes now don't work at all and wont be reprogrammed and the key light still comes up on the dash. This is more of an inconvenience and harkens back to a time when we all had to unlock the car with a key, but it is concerning. The original ignition switch was part number 4f0909131a and the replacement was 4f0909131e. I cant seem to find out what the difference between the two are but I am now suspecting it may be something to do with the remote frequency, however the keys that came with it don't work either. Somewhat perplexing.
Any help would be appreciated. I have tried to reprogram them using this link http://www.audizine.com/forum/showth...i-flip-key-fob
    with no success.

You are the first person that I have read about on this forum that had replaced the ignition switch. Everything that I have read or heard of about an immobilizer issue has resulted in a replacement of the entire steering column not an ignition switch. You are in uncharted territory. Please keep updating this thread with your progress so we can all learn.

I will. There seems to be some problems with the very early A6 4F. I can still use the car OK but every time I switch the ignition on or start the car it beeps loudly 3 times and constantly shows the flashing key. I have sent some feelers out with people I know in the automotive industry, in particular Audis, but as yet have had no feedback. I am hesitant to take it to an Audi service centre as they overcharge for things that they do. They expect you to shell out hundreds just to do a diagnosis. Not good customer service on a car that originally cost over 100k. There is a term for this. It is called extortion!
