HELP! Painting rims tomorrow need ideas

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Night dwellers, I need some help

I've got a Pearlescent White B5, and I've finally finished sanding, filling and priming my rims.... Now it's on to the thought part, painting. I was originally going to go white... But the more I think about it, black may be an option... Does anyone have a pic of a pearl white with white rims? I can't find it on the interests so I'm sure someone may have it

My only "idea" would be to not paint them and have them powder coated. It's dirt cheap to do so. Any pics of your car to get a better idea what you're working with?

If you have a pic of your car, I could photoshop the wheels white for you. (If I have time tomorrow)

So powdercoating is out of the question. Either black, white, or gunmetal/graphite

Gun metal/graphite would be a rad happy medium.

Paint them back silver. Stock wheels painted anything other than silver look super cheap IMO.

Paint them a nice bright hyper silver. Stock wheels in stock color often look best (otherwise it can give the impression that someone is trying to make them into something they are not [real aftermarket wheels], which can come off a bit juvenile ):

Plastidip them. Then you can change the color to something else if you dont like it. They have great metallic colors.

Usually the center caps will be painted to match the powder coated wheel. Not a big deal.

There ya go buddy, sorry I already closed the file from yesterday, so to avoid redoing everything I just added on top of the pic I already made, so its sort of a copy of a copy, so low quality

Honestly, since you are asking for opinions, leave it alone. Paint the wheels bright new silver, leave the roof the way it is. When you find a set of aftermarket wheels you like, get those, and selling silver stock wheels will be easier and more profitable then selling black painted stockers.

Looking at the 4 comparison pics. If I was looking on craigslist at the stock looking car, vs the one with the black stock wheels and black roof, I am instantly going to offer less on the black wheels car. Reason being that to me it sends the message of "well rather than just getting aftermarket wheels the owner took the cheap way out... so what else has had the 'cheap way out' treatment?"

Not trying to be rude, so I hope it doesnt come across that way. I just want your S4 to look like the best and most valuable car it can be for ya.

^^ Agreed. You can get replicas of OE rims for <$100 each. My time was worth more than trying to paint my OE rims. I went the replica route when I found out that all of my OE curb rashed rims from the PO were also all bent. Then I bought some aftermarket VMR 18" rims, I'm back to the OE replicas until I can afford new tires for the 18" rims again. My OE replicas still had almost new tires on them when I went for aftermarket rims. (Bought a house last year and trying to renovate the house and keep up on tires is a constant struggle)

makes sense to be honest. this is why we only plastic dipped the wheels on the hibiscus black to keep it easy to go back to the oem color and to be a cool kid for a bit haha
