    Intermittent soft brake pedal

    Hi all,

I just got front and rear brakes done on my 2015 s4. Indy shop. I'm certain they didn't release the EPB properly when doing the rears and that they used no scan tools or vag com.

Now the pedal is generally firm but goes soft under hard braking for a split second before firming up again towards the floor.

Do I have air in my lines? They did a manual bleed (no power bleeder).

    Any other ideas?

    A.

Sure sounds like air especially since you say they were bled. Hopefully they didn't do any damage to your EPB module. It can certainly be done without VAG if they know what they are doing, by using 12 volts and applying that directly to module contacts.

Turns out it was likely overloading or high pressure on the ABS system by the new pads. It's gone away now but not as the result of any brake bleed (Audi did the bleed of the lines and abs but the problem remained for a little while after and Audi said no air came out the lines). Day by day these HPS 5.0 pads are becoming easier to modulate, less of a strain on ABS and more effective in stopping power.

Scratch the above, as it's still happening. Is it the ABS freaking out/wheels locking up briefly? I have no idea but it freaks me out.
