"Mix" on the media player not so random

Perhaps not newsworthy, but I noticed some odd behavior this morning when playing music via SD card. My son listens to the same music every day on the way to school, and when I leave I simply switch the player to "mix" mode. For a few days now, I noticed mixed mode played the same songs in the same order after I left school. I realized that if I start with a certain song, the order of the "mix" is always constant after that starting song. I figured it would somehow randomize the mix at some point, but it seems to use a certain algorithm based on the current song, and if the sd card doesn't change, the order of the mix doesn't either.

I've noticed patterns as well... SD card with thousands of songs on it, yet I hear certain songs come on frequently and never hear others...

I've noticed this even with Spotify (not related to audi's "mix mode")...I almost always get the same order of songs more or less even if I try to start with a different song that the first. Frustrates the hell out of me lol

Its a known issue - they use a crappy random number generator so "shuffle" isn't good. If you plug an ipod in you'll get a much better randomizer.

Mix is basically useless. I never use it. On the earlier cars it resets itself after a few hours of the car being off anyway. So, your random playlist becomes unrandom and there is no fix for it. If you want to listen to an entire playlist randomly without a repeat, it is impossible. This is the only car I've owned that can't keep shuffle mode turned on between start-ups. Dumb.
