Playing video from SD card?

OK so during winter I drive up to mammoth mountain at least 15 times a year (6-7 hour drive). I was wondering if anyone is successfully playing video on the main screen through SD card slot? Is there a certain format I need to get video and sound to playback?
I'm sure it's wishful thinking but if that is possible can you then use Vag-com to enable video while driving? Any input would be great!

MP4 files play, but only when stationary. I pulled up a video, it would play, but once I got to maybe 5 mph, it cut off.

Anyone tested that on a US 2016? Can you play video from a phone or just SD?

*EDIT* saw in another post you had your sig showing a 2016 S7... so yes you will need the dongle thingy

True that the 16 can't be Vag'd but not sure what year you have...if earlier then it can be but there are limits to what type of video file then can play

any video file larger than 2GB won't play on my 2013/2014 S6 - and the largest SD card it can read is 32GB. It also doesn't like to play MP4's or MKV's for some reason but will play AVI's no problems - just means I have to be particular of what files I load onto it
