    Clutch Switch(es) and Cruise control?

Can someone who understand these switches help me out a bit.

    I ordered 1x https://www.europaparts.com/catalogs...sult/?q=000543 which is part # OEM: 7H0927189

My cruise control does NOT work, but I have to depress the clutch to start the car. This to me would indicate that possibly the clutch switch that is on the same stalk as the brake switch would be the problem. However, when I REPLACE that switch with the part # I bought and plug the harness back in, I can no longer start the car... (it seems to not recognize the clutch being pressed in), however if I unplug the switch or put the old switch back in and plug it in, it works fine but cruise of course does not work.

I'm stumped on this one, I can't for the life of me figure out why a new clutch switch plugged into the cruise stalk harness would prevent the car from being started?

B7 RS4 if it matters, but as far as I know it's the same on S4 manual transmissions as well.

I would suggest start by trying to operator both switches by hand to see what works. Can you start the car with the original switch installed and the clutch pedal NOT pressed?

Normal operation would be that the car will not start without the clutch depressed. The original switch may be stuck in the "Depressed" position. Normal operation would be a depress of the clutch pedal would cut off cruise control, therefore a stuck "depressed" position would not allow cruise to be turned on.

Overall sounds like there's something else going on and the switch is not the issue. Unfortunately, don't have much recommendation on the new switch not working other than it may be something else.

I do not, I guess I'll finally order my own - do you know which blocks I need to monitor?

So what am I not seeing here... I ended up just bypassing the two clutch switches, the one for the clutch depress (to start the car) was flaky, sometimes worked sometimes didn't - the one for CC was completely failed, I bypassed them both by taking the switches apart and soldering the leads together INSIDE The switch so the switch is still in place, but it is always activated - only downside seems to be 1. Car starts without clutch engagement, and 2. cruise control is not disabled on clutch engagement...

Is there any other function or value to those two binary switches? they are either on or off, they do not detect clutch PRESSURE or anything else to indicate they would provide value for traction control or anything.

My Break switch was causing the cruise to not function..Well and the timing to retard 12 degrees when letting out the clutch. Needless to say after replacing motor mounts, short shifter, slave and master cyl..Break switch was the ultimate culprit.
