Do the 1.8t 5-speed and 6-speed share the same output shaft cup?

    ETKA shows a 2004 1.8T 5-speed FWD transmission (012 code GFU) uses an 88mm output flange shaft: 012 409 343 N supersedes to 012 409 343 AD

    ETKA shows a 2004 1.8T 6-speed quattro transmission (02X code GJW) uses an 88mm output flange shaft: 012 409 343 AD

So, from that information, it appears that, yes, at least some 5-speeds do use the same shaft cup (flange shaft). This is just from reading a catalog, not from experience actually swapping the flanges.

    However:

ETKA shows a 2003 1.8T 5-speed quattro transmission (01A codes FNU, FPT, FTZ) as using 5 different flanges in 3 different sizes: 88mm, 100mm, and 130mm.

100mm is for certain the old-school (messy) 6-ball CV joint style. I believe the 88mm and 130mm are tripod joints of 2 different sizes. Perhaps another member can shed some light.

Yes, I believe the flange, as well as the entire drive axle, is the same between the B6 1.8t quattro 5 speed and the 6 speed.

Extremely helpful information but I am still somewhat at a loss. Here is my dilemma.

I have a B7 02X 6-speed and need front axles. Only the shitty FEQ, Empi, etc axles are available. For the B6 1.8T manual on partsgeek they have GKN axles available which I know are the closest to good quality I am going to get without spending 600+ on OEM.

The Audi part number for the axles is the same B6 and B7. The part number for the axles on partsgeek doesn't correlate to any number that I can find to match to the B7. The GKN part numbers that I could find match both the B6 and B7, but they are a completely different part number from the one on partsgeek.

Normally this would be simple buy the part and if it doesn't fit send it back, but from the sounds of dealing with partsgeek you're pretty much shit out of luck based on all the rip off reports posted.

I am basically just going off the fact that the B6 and B7 are basically the same chassis aside from looks and both use the 02X 6-speed in the hope that these axles will fit.
