    Specific milltek resonated valvesonic question.

I have a milltek non res system in my c7 s6 and notice a very distinctive drone when cylinder deactivation kicks in. Because it's constantly turning off and on at highway it is pretty annoying during long distances with the music turned down (i.e old man mode listening to audible) So for anyone with the resonated system, how does the system act when going from 8 to 4 cylinders? I suspect there may still be drone but is the resonated system quiet enough where it doesn't penetrate the cabin?

I can attest to it being present in the resonated, too. Although it is subtle, it is certainly audible. Low sound with an accompanying light vibration felt through the cabin. There is also a loud 'pop' when it switches from 4 to 8 cylinder mode. Do you experience that as well?

Thanks but that sucks. I was hoping by adding the resonator it would have disappeared. I also notice a transition sound when it kicks in.

Anyone with aftermarket exhaust have luck eliminating this? Would disabling anc help?

The funny thing is I did a lot of forum research prior to purchasing and everyone said there was no drone..

I was also curious about disabling ANC. I haven't tried since to my knowledge it can only be accomplished by making physical modifications (e.g. snipping wires). I'll be watching this thread to see if anyone else has any insight.

That's strange. Mine has drone only at cold start but other than that it works almost identical to stock exhaust but louder when I step hard on gas.

Do they work differently in S6 and RS7?

Same here. I noticed this in the vag com forum. I solicited feedback. If we don't get any I'll give it a try.

I am running custom 3" piping from the stock DPs with 3" Dynomax race mufflers in place of stock resonators through to stock mufflers. It's basically a large hollow amplifier and I didn't hear any drone that would bother me on a 400 mile drive a few days ago. I have ANC switched off per quote above.

I'll turn on and try to reset ANC so it adapts to this exhaust to see what happens.

I have a thread somewhere sharing a similar experience with my Milltek setup. Only way I seem to be able to avoid it is putting the car in S mode, which presents its own challenges.

This is the first I've seen where someone's successfully disabled anc. Any other steps required? In going to give that a shot.

It sounds like he just did the VAGCOM mod. I'll perform it as well and let you know.

Please update us, I committed to an AWE exhaust to replace the Milltek because I'm tired of throwing money at it. I'd like to try this mod before I swap everything out yet again.

This doesn't work for me. Opening the adaptation menu doesn't present a guided screen but just manual editing of channels/bytes..

    Specific milltek resonated valvesonic question.

I turned ANR back on and it seems to have made things quieter and less raw. I read somewhere that an Audi dealer can reset the ANC system. That will cause it to readapt to the new exhaust and eliminate drone. Turning it off and on may have reset that for me. 2016 RS7 here.

This is interesting. When I asked my dealer about the ANC and adaptations (as I had heard a similar thing in the rumor mill) he said he had never heard of such a procedure, but would be willing to try it out if I could find more data (which I could not). So if you find something concrete let me know.

My VCDS is a bit out of date so I'll try updating it (I'm on .1, they have .4 though) and see if that makes a difference for the mapping. Are you on Bose as well?

I'm Bose. Running latest VCDS. I don't know if my actions reset ANR, but the cabin seems quieter when cruising in S mode or under moderate load. Full throttle and the exhaust gets loud. When switching between D and S, I can usually hear a distinct sound change. Now it's a little less pronounced.

I'm going under the vag knife tomorrow. As one who has issue with the anc and the sound when going 8 to 4 cylinder, I'll try and turn and off. If that doesn't work I'll turn it back on and see if it resets. If anyone has recommendations to try, I'm all ears.

We're also on Bose. running 15.7.4 VCDS and require a channel number to adjust ANC on/off. Anyone know what that may be?
