I'm looking at buying a 2000 S4. Before I buy it has some issues and I need to know what I am looking at to get all the the repairs done. It's a 6 speed with 160k miles on it.
Here is the entire listing...
I bought this car in 2004 with 19k miles on it. It was rebuilt (branded title) from a front-end accident prior to my purchase. I've had no issues stemming from this rebuild that I know of during my 12-year ownership of the vehicle. The car was in a minor front-end accident in 2014 and the bumper, radiator, fan, and AC condenser were replaced then.
There is a dent in the passenger side rear door (visible in pics).
The car runs extremely strong. I had it chipped and added a "cat-back" exhaust to it (the sound is "throatier" but not loud) and the estimated horsepower is 330. It absolutely rips.
I've replaced suspension linkages to tighten up the handling and installed 4 new struts (shocks) last summer. It drives and handles like you would expect from an Audi S4 - it is a pleasure to drive and is unstoppable in the snow.
Comes with the Yakima rack and two of the bike trays - one upright, one fork-mount (I have another fork mount tray that I will include).
There is a after-market stereo with Infinity speakers, Kenwood deck, and Alpine amp - all work great. It comes with a bluetooth unit for connecting to phone audio.
The tires on it are blizzaks with about 7000 miles on them. Also included are another full set of almost new 4 season tires (I forget the brand).
Known issues:
The check engine light is on. Also the ABS system is throwing a fault - the ABS system needs to be replaced (cost = $450). The brakes work fine - it is just the anti-lock braking that doesn't kick in. The left rear passenger window does not operate and the door latch does not work from the inside (works find from outside). There is a problem with the engine thermostat - the car is slower to warm up in cold weather but runs fine.
Rear rotors and pads are new in last 2000 miles. New shocks last summer. I've changed the oil religiously every 5-6000 miles using high-grade synthetic.
If you drive this car, you'll buy it - it is an absolute ripping car, super fun to drive. ]
Also if I were to buy the car t would have to make a 500 mile trip. Which isn't an issue for me as a driver, I'm just concerned if the car can make it or not. And let's pretend I didn't want to risk driving the car all that way's how much money would I be looking at to have it shipped to me and where can I find out more information on having the car shipped to me? Without going through ebay how would I pay for the car and get the title into my hands?
